You have to love the weather forecasters. While watching the morning news the weather man said that there was only a 10% chance of rain today. I'm certainly glad that it's only 10% of the rain that is falling right now. I'd hate to see what 100% of it looks like.

I've been surfing the net as I have a habit of doing, and came across an English Islamic forum. It makes for some interesting and somewhat educational reading. Of particular note were some of the forum rules, which I am listing here. 02- Posting in gender room by someone with a wrong or no gender icon: disable 5 03- Posting anti-Islamic link or offensive content: disable 10 + trash 05- Posting profane words: warn + edit post 06- Supporting un-Islamic Behavior: disable 10 ...

I spoke with my office this morning regarding a load out. She said that she had lined one up but that another outfit stole it out from under us by offering to haul it cheaper. I hate when that happens. These companies sometimes will haul for a loss just to get their truck to an area where they have another load waiting to be picked up. Ah well, it's not like I mind being at home but I need to get rolling to make a buck or two. Hopefully something will turn up later today. In the meantime I...

Ok, I'll tell you right up front that I am writing simply because I'm enjoying a few beers and there's nothing good on television. If you're looking for something insightful or meaningful, go ahead and move on now because this ain't it. For the rest of you, here it is. How well do you know yourself? Are you totally honest with yourself? Really? Ever since I was a little kid I was told by my parents, teachers, and various other people who should know that I was quite bright and could ...

Tonight I threw together a dinner that was pretty tasty. I made some brown rice with a little extra water so it would be extra moist. Then I put some olive oil and soy sauce into a skillet and heated that. I put the rice into the skillet, added some chopped onion, canned black beans, and carrot shavings. I fried this up adding a few more dashes of soy sauce as I went. Very simple, but quite tasty.

My hip was really hurting when I got up this morning. I guess I must have slept on it wrong or something. It's really giving me a lot of trouble today so I decided to skip the bike ride I had planned. I'm struggling just to walk and didn't want to push it as I may be leaving back out tomorrow. I did carry my winter Carhart coveralls and matching coat over to the little laundrymat here in the park so I could wash them up. this is the first time I have used the one here even though it's only...

Ok, I know that this is THE question. The one that has been pondered since the dawn of human intelligence. When we look around us we see everything that makes up this world, this little rock we crawl about on while it spins around and flies through the universe. I am not presenting this question as a religion vs science debate forum, but rather as a chance to knock around some ideas about how this all came to be. If your belief is creation, fine. If your belief is something other than creatio...

I just heard this story on the local news channel. one of our Sheriff's Deputies was out in the woods in a dense and remote area and was bitten by a diamondback rattler. He was carried out by firemen after they finally got to him after the call came in over a cell phone. Luckily there was a judge with him who was able to lead the firemen to the bitten man's location. The deputy is in intensive care but is expected to survive. Nothing exciting but still just not the sort of story one he...

Yep, another blog entry about nothing of import. Shaving at home is completely different than shaving at a truckstop. At a truckstop I shave in the shower room after my shower, knowing that someone is probably waiting for their turn to get a shower. Or I shave in the restroom in which case there is almost always someone wanting to wash their hands or get their chance for a shave. Even when there are 5 or 6 sinks mornings can be busy and lots of guys are waiting their turn. And of course, ...

As I've been on a more or less vegetarian diet (not strict) for most of the year I am feeling a serious meat over load after Thanksgiving. My system simply isn't used to eating this much meat and I'm feeling it. I eat small amounts of meat here and there, even having a steak once in a while, but I don't eat it on a daily basis and never a lot of it. I had to go buy some groceries for the remainder of my home stay and decided to avoid any more meat products so as to try and get my digestiv...

When I come home from the road the last thing I feel like doing is cleaning house, washing dishes, or doing laundry. I am road weary and just want to rest and relax. Sadly, the stupid house unreasonably refuses to clean itself and the dishes stubbornly sit there waiting to be washed instead of taking a bit of initiative to do it themselves. Yes, I am in the process of domestic chores. I don't really get too overboard with it. I do a little, drink a beer and/or have a smoke, and then a l...

I always enjoy the Thanksgiving leftovers more than the original meal for some reason. I think it just tastes better after spending the night in the fridge. I just finished my dinner consisting of said leftovers. I even gave Socrates a piece of turkey which he really seemed to enjoy.I don't make a habit of feeding him people food as I don't want him spoiled for the more nutritious cat food. But I don't suppose a little treat once in a while will do any harm. We're spending a nice relaxing ...
