A bunch of useless crap

My hip was really hurting when I got up this morning. I guess I must have slept on it wrong or something. It's really giving me a lot of trouble today so I decided to skip the bike ride I had planned. I'm struggling just to walk and didn't want to push it as I may be leaving back out tomorrow.

I did carry my winter Carhart coveralls and matching coat over to the little laundrymat here in the park so I could wash them up. this is the first time I have used the one here even though it's only about 50 yards from my front door. When I've needed a laundrymat I've always gone to the large one where I knew I'd have access to as many machines as I needed in order to save time. but since it was just these two items I went to the one here.

As I took them from the washers (one for each as they are so large and heavy) and loaded them into the dryer I discovered that I had also washed my pair of wool gloves. Well, that's ok. I was wondering where they had got to. I guess they must have been in the coat pocket. They're very good gloves for super cold weather; Arctic rated wool blend.

I just fished everything out of the dryer and brought them back home. I really didn't expect the machines to wash out the grease stains, and I was right. While they are still stained, I know they're clean and ready to wear for another Winter. Those things are a real life saver when in the coldest areas of the country and trying to secure a load in those biting Winter winds. Combined with the Arctic gloves under my work gloves, and an insulated ski mask and goggles, it's a good warm combo.

Now I'm kicked back on the couch for a bit enjoying a cold brew before starting my dinner.

Well, though I have a feeling they aren't as big as the "pumpkin suits" I wear when doing Low-Vis watch, I have a feeling I know just how comfortable those coveralls can be in cold weather

I never knew the value of good cold weather gear until I was standing in 40 knot winds (though I shouldn't have been, we just couldn't actually hear ANYTHING through the headsets) with a mix rain/snow/slush downpour around us. It was COLD but the pumpkin suits kept me nice and toasty, even if I did have to lean forward at about a 60 degree angle to be standing (which was amazingly fun though!! Just don't tell my wife...)
