I guess I just have one of those extremely average faces. All of my life I have been told how I look like so and so, someone's cousin or someone's friend or whatever. If I were keeping a list of all of the people I have been told that I resemble or am the "spitting image" of it would contain hundreds of names. One forum I post at, a shaving forum, has a thread that is basically a "post your pic" type thing. I did. Someone told me I should be a spy because I have one of those faces that I l...

Found this list on the net. Some folks have just slightly missed the mark. Subject: Just keep things in perspective "Computers in the future may weigh no more than 1.5 tons." --Popular Mechanics, forecasting the relentless march of science, 1949. "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers." --Thomas Watson, chairman of IBM, 1943. "I have traveled the length and breadth of this country and talked with the best people, and I can assure you that data processing is a fad t...

Found this on the net. Here are the man laws. Finally somebody wrote them down. They are all numbered 1 on purpose. 1. Men are NOT mind readers. 1. Learn to work the toilet seat. You're a big girl. If it's up, put it down. We need it up, you need it down. You don't hear us complaining about you leaving it down. 1. Sunday sports. It's like the full moon or the changing of the tides. Let it be. 1. Shopping is NOT a sport. And no, we are never going to think of it th...

Since I broke down my Louisiana load had to be given to another driver. That's ok. I'm taking a load down to NC by way of Cincinnati. As I don't need to be in Cincy until Monday morning I can afford to take some rest time. I've checked into the hotel and stocked the fridge with brew. I'm tired so I'm not even going over to Appleby's. I'm just going to rest and relax here in the room. I'm chilling out for the moment and as soon as I work up the energy I'm going to get a nice steamy hot show...

I finally made it back to the yard and was unhooking from my trailer when a driver walked up to me and asked "Are you the computer guy?" I just kind of looked at him for a second. He explained that he had heard through the grapevine that one of the drivers here was a computer geek and from the decription he thought it might be me. Now I understood. I told him that I was indeed the person he was looking for and asked what I could do for him. He needed some help with fixing his log book and ...

i really didn't want to take this short run from the yard to IA. Only about 240 miles. The short ones usually don't pay enough for the trouble, but no-one else was available to do it. This one is really turning out to be trouble. Last night two of my older straps broke while running down the interstate. Luckily they weren't both on the same piece or it probably would have fallen off the trailer. I had to pull off a ramp and replace the two busted straps. I hate working in the dark on the s...

After making my delivery in Milwaukee today I was sent to Beaver Dam, WI to pick up some fuel tanks used for generators. They're heading to the Generac plant in Iowa. Wasn't I just in Iowa this morning? Deja vu again. I'm still in WI but only about 3 1/2 hours from the Iowa delivery point. I'll be getting an early start in the morning. The customer wants delivery by 10am. Maybe. maybe not. We'll see. Once I make the delivery I will be picking up some finished generators from the same plant...

I spent the night at the Iowa 80 truckstop in Walcott, IA. It's billed as the world's largest truckstop. I could have and should have kept going instead of stopping here but I was tired (still fighting this bug) and haven't been here in a couple of years. The place is truly large. It has a full restaurant as well as a some fast food places and is much like a small shopping mall selling everything from truck accesories to clothing. There are also a number of antique trucks on display which ...

There is a line of Italian made shaving products that go by the brand name Proraso. Many of the classic shaving enthusiasts speak highly of them. In the states they are sold at Target stores. Today I pulled my rig into a Target and purchased some Proraso shave cream, shave soap, and pre-shave. I decided to see for myself what all of the rave was about. This stuff is great! It contains eucalyptis among other things and is quite refreshing. I lathered some on with my brush and it was very...

My final stop at Tinker AFB in Oklahoma City is not getting off to a roaring start here. First off the dumbass gave me directions to wrong gate and cost me about 15 minutes getting turned around and traveling to the correct gate for which I had driven right past the exit to get to the wrong one. I finally got to the correct gate, got through the security inspection and to the delivery location on the base only to find the area, a fuel depot, far too small to easily maneuver in and it took ...

I finally made a decision regarding my wireless internet service. Since that truckstop chain has placed a bandwidth limit on their service I just signed up with Cingular for their wireless internet service. I'm trying it now as I type this. While the card wass rather expensive at $200, and the service itself is also a little pricey at $60/month, at least I won't be restricted to just getting service at a certain truckstop chain but rather will have service wherever I can get a Cingular sig...

Ever since I started working for this company we have been paid via an actual paper paycheck that had to be picked up at the office. That's all well and good but if you were still out on the road on payday you had to wait until you reached the yard to get your check. And then of course you had to hope the bank was open while you there so that you could actually cash it. It was a real pain in the arse. The company has finally switched our payroll over so that we get our pay directly on our ...

My truck is restocked on groceries but I just didn't feel like nuking anything so I came inside for dinner. I ordered the New York Strip. What a disappointment. The steak was tough and the baked potato even tougher. A real waste of $16. Back to the truck now to wait for the indigestion to subside. Yuk.

The whole E Coli spinach thing has been on the news for a while now. Why did a little kid die because of it? What is wrong with people that even though they have been warned about the danger they still feed a possibly infected food to their kid? They should be brought into court on charges for being too damned stupid to have children.
