A bunch of useless crap

I finally made a decision regarding my wireless internet service. Since that truckstop chain has placed a bandwidth limit on their service I just signed up with Cingular for their wireless internet service. I'm trying it now as I type this.

While the card wass rather expensive at $200, and the service itself is also a little pricey at $60/month, at least I won't be restricted to just getting service at a certain truckstop chain but rather will have service wherever I can get a Cingular signal. As they have quite good coverage, that will be most anywhere I happen to be. As my company cell phone is on Cingular I know from experience that it's rare that I won't have a signal.

I'm pretty impressed with the speed so far. Web pages load very fast. It seems quite comparable to wifi service, at least at my current location.

I have 30 days to try it out to see if I like it. I can choose to cancel during that time without any penalty. I'm pretty happy with this first use, but time will tell.

Some of the folks here have Verizon, but I have not priced it.  Now I know to wait a bit until they get real competitive and the prices come down!  But I have that luxury.  Thanks for doing the leg work for me!  And happy cyber trails to you! (In my worst Gene Autry voice).

Thanks.

Yeah the price could stand to come down. I priced Sprint, Verizon, and Cingular and their unlimited usages rates are pretty similar with Cingular being about $10 cheaper. It's too high but being on the road the choices are somewhat limited and this seemed like the lesser of the evils.

I'm now parked out in the boonies nowhere near a city and have a great signal.

Ouch!  that's a lotta moola there Mason!

Guess it's good I have no need of wireless! ,  although I can't imagine why anyone in my boots would need it.

It's good you're able to stay in touch and have that service since your profession keeps you "on the road"!

It seems expensive but I have been maintaining service at 1 truckstop chain and paying by the day at others. I've actually been spending more than that each month for service that only works at those truckstops (when it works at all).

I'm enjoying this service. Right now I'm sitting in line waiting to be loaded and can get online. How cool is that?
