A bunch of useless crap

Ever since I started working for this company we have been paid via an actual paper paycheck that had to be picked up at the office. That's all well and good but if you were still out on the road on payday you had to wait until you reached the yard to get your check. And then of course you had to hope the bank was open while you there so that you could actually cash it. It was a real pain in the arse.

The company has finally switched our payroll over so that we get our pay directly on our fuel card. That way we can pull into any truckstop, write a comcheck, and cash it. We can also use an ATM to draw cash. I like this much better. No more trying to get to the yard while the bank is open just to cash my paycheck.

I was paid this way back when I owned my own rig and really missed it when I came to work here. I'm really glad that they have finally gotten away from the paper checks. One option is to have all or part of it transferred to a personal bank account and some of the guys are doing this. As I don't have or want a bank account I just have it all put directly on my fuel card.

The company is finally catching up to the 21st century.

That's great M! No more rushing around and no more paper check to cash. It's great when the company you work for makes things easy for you isn't it?!

Yes, and it maks it easier for them as all of those checks were hand written. It saves the office manager a great deal of work.

I can't really blame them. It's a small company.

Is definately nice having a direct deposit of sorts working for us. Thank god too.. though I admit would be nice to come back from a 6 month with at least 12 checks awaiting me LoL

I now get paid via direct deposit and LOVE it. Means I don't have to go in for my check on my day off and I can check on line what my check is. heh, you know my wife has never gotten a paycheck? She's always worked in banks and has always gotten paid direct deposit. She said sometimes she would like to see what it feels like to hold a paycheck! I tell her it feels pretty good for all of the three point two nanoseconds I've ever gotten to hold one...

True story...for the six months I worked at "Major Fast Food Chain", I was earning money I didn't need to get by. It was extra income, as my job as a "media distribution specialist" paid the bills. On a couple of occasions, I sat with an uncashed check in my wallet for about a week or so. Then, when I realized, "oh yeah! I need gas!" I would cash the durn thing. It was a pretty cool feeling.

Direct Deposit (or in your case Direct Credit) sure beats standing in line to cash and or deposit a check!  Glad you have joined the 21st century!

I never minded direct deposit. It's banks I don't trust.

I have a friend who keeps his checks around for weeks before ever cashing them. He usually cashes 4 or 5 at a time.

I agree. It's good to know I'll have access to my money from anywhere. I used to deliberately delay going home until I could go by and pick up (and cash) my checks. Now I can get my money from any ATM.
