Yep, it was Monday again in all it's glory. I arrived at the Red River Army Depot in TX to find a two hour wait, standing in line, just to get a pass. WTF? After I finally got my pass I returned to my truck just to pull into line for the security inspection. This was a joke as I could have easily hidden a few pounds of C4 on my truck and they wouldn't have spotted it. I went to the building they indicated. By this time they were all at lunch and I had to wait for them to return. The...

He sat at the truckstop counter drinking his coffee and shaking the cobwebs of sleep from his mind. The usual assortment of drivers were huddled around drinking coffee and eating breakfast. Some of the younger drivers preferred soda pop to coffee. As he was never able to eat this early he was content with his cup of joe. It was pretty easy to tell the old school hands from the rookies. Not all of the rookies were young just as not all of the old schoolers were exactly old. It wasn't so muc...

I hate cold weather. I just can't get myself motivated when it's cold out. I'm stopped for a quick breakfast before heading on towards Texarkana, but I just hate this crappy Winter weather. I think it's at least partly the scenery this time of year. All of the trees have dropped their leaves and basically look dead. I love the greenery when cruising along and now Old Man Winter has robbed us of that for the next few months. Bastard. And to make today even worse my IBS is acting up, trea...

What a day. I got my trailer loaded at the yard. Five truck cabs going to the Red River Army Depot just outside of Texarkana, TX and two industrial presses going to Houston. The presses had to be tarped of course. Being as the presses are ten feet tall and not exactly made to climbed upon, the tarping was a bit of a challenge to say the least. It took a lot of work and a couple of minor injuries, but I finally got them tarped. I managed to bang my left knee against a bolt sticking out of o...

Hmmm, I can't access the forums this morning. I'm getting a server application error. I hope this will be fixed soon.

Yesterday's weather was something new for me. I have seen lightening and I have seen it snow but until yesterday I had never seen it do both at the same time. There is something surreal about seeing it lightening and hearing thunder while it is snowing heavily. The flashes of lightening in the snowstorm lit the sky pink instead of the blue or white one normally associates with lightening. It was quite bizarre. The storm began here as rain about an hour before the boss and I headed towards ...

He sat in a dark corner of the small tavern, his back to the wall. He could see everyone who came and went while remaining unnoticed in the shadows. He sipped at his drink and returned it silently to the dark wood table who's surface was rough and scarred from years of abuse. Smoke hung heavily just below the ceiling and its scent mixed with those of sweat, stale beer, and that undefinable stench that was the hallmark of all such low class hideaways. The air was heavy and close. Men sat hu...

I stayed in this hotel several weeks ago. I had removed my diamond earring which was a gift from a lady, and laid it on the sink while I showered. After I had checked out of the hotel and was several hundred miles away I realized that I had forgotten my earring. The last time I stayed here, a few weeks ago, I asked the lady working the desk if it had by chance been turned in by housekeeping. She said that it hadn't. Oh well. When I checked in here today a different lady (the last one wa...

Socrates woke me around 6:00 this morning and we headed down to the truckstop for breakfast. As I was putting the truck in the shop for scheduled maintenance I figured I should have something to eat first. You can never tell just how long the shop will take on a given day. I just pulled the truck into the service bay and locked Socrates in his carrier for the duration. He really hates that and started protesting immediately. Ah well, it's a necessary evil. I closed the sleeper curtain to m...

Firstly, Socrates says hi to JU. He feels that he has been seriously under-reported of late and insists upon top billing today. He is alive, well fed, and generally doing his best to be a pain in the ass when I am trying to do some serious sleeping. He is also very proud of the fact that he has ruined two of my favorite sport coats by applying his claws to their sleeves. I finally delivered the non-running dozer to upper nowhere WI. After unloading the guy said he had a grader he needed ha...

Good grief, what a day so far. I delivered the Army truck in Indy this morning with no troubles. I should have know to be worried at that point but I foolishly plodded forward as if everything would be just peachy. I was sadly mistaken. As dispatch didn't yet have a load lined up for me I and the other driver making the same delivery headed for the truckstop for breakfast. Before we got there I had a phone call. The lady said she was from our NY office. Huh? I didn't know we had a NY offic...

I am parked at a truckstop just South of my destination, Indianapolis. I had stopped several places along the way to do my laundry but I guess everyone and his brother had the same idea and everywhere I stopped all of the machines were in use. It was the same story when I got here. All of the washing machines were being used and there were several people waiting for their turn at them. I wanted to get a shower but saw no point in doing so and then putting on the same jeans. I checked the s...

Once again the JU forums are being trashed by some anon that appears to be another forum trashing bot. This one is called Test. There must be some way to block these asshats to keep them from trashing the forums. I have been making sure that all of my articles are available for comments by registered users only, but there are a lot who don't for various reasons. This crap is damned annoying. The asshats responsible for this sort of crap should be publicly horsewhipped before being locked i...
