Yesterday's weather was something new for me. I have seen lightening and I have seen it snow but until yesterday I had never seen it do both at the same time. There is something surreal about seeing it lightening and hearing thunder while it is snowing heavily. The flashes of lightening in the snowstorm lit the sky pink instead of the blue or white one normally associates with lightening. It was quite bizarre.
The storm began here as rain about an hour before the boss and I headed towards Oshkosh to pick up my truck from the body shop. By the time we had reached Fond du Lac it had changed from rain to snow. The roads were a mess and the trip back was slow and hazardous. There were vehicles in the ditches and medians all along the way and traffic was moving at a snail's pace. I managed to make it back to the yard without the need for a return visit to the body shop.
They did an excellent job on the repairs to the truck. You would never know it had been damaged at all. They matched the paint on the fender perfectly. It's nice to have my truck back in it's original condition. I hate driving a damaged truck.
I'm sitting on the yard now sipping coffee, nursing a slight hangover, and waiting for them to put my load together. I have a stop in Texarkana and one in Houston. The yard is buried in several inches of snow and a good deal of water from the rain before it resulting in puddles of slush several inches deep in places. Not pleasant for walking at all.
Just a couple of days ago we were running around in tee shirts and now have to bundle up against the cold. This, combined with the aforementioned hangover, makes me less than anxious to actually do anything this morning but one has to make a living.
