Ok, I'm in a very foul mood this morning. I admit it. My back is hurting and spasming something awful. Too long in the bed I suppose. I woke around 5:00 local time this morning, took my pain pills and muscle relaxers, and then dozed again for a couple more hours. I was hoping that by the time I was ready to get out of the bed they would have started working and make getting up easier. Yeah, right. I managed to get up, get dressed (that was fun), and shuffle over to the restaurant to fi...

I've spent the biggest part of the day in my hotel room trying to rest my back as much as possible. I've periodically gone for short walks (more like shuffles really) and tried to gently stretch my back muscles a bit. Honestly it's been a pretty boring day but I'm not exactly feeling up for any excitement right now so that's cool. I popped into the bar around noon, had a couple of beers, engaged in some inane chit chat, ordered chicken wings to go, and came back to my room. I repeated this...

I guess the drugs wore off completely around 4:00 this morning. I was wakened by a severe back spasm that had the muscles locked up tighter than a drum. Luckily I had made sure the pills were within easy reach of the bed when I turned in last night. I took some vicodin and flexeril and then just laid there and even managed to doze off again for a couple more hours. I sure hope the drugs start having an effect on this soon as it doesn't seem to be getting any better yet. I injured the back ...

I'm laid up at this truck stop for a few days until back heals up enough for me to move on. Luckily, this truck stop has a hotel and a bar. I've been stopping here for years so those who have been here a long time know me. The head bartender "M" hass known me for quite a long time. Naturally she had heard that I left here this morning in a ambulance. When I popped into the bar for a couple of cold ones she was all over me asking if I was ok, if I needed anything, and basically trying to mo...

When I got up this morning the back was worse than ever. I could hardly move at all. It took me a long time to just get my pants on. It also took me about a half an hour to just get inside the truck stop. I sat on a stool at the counter for some coffee. I was hoping that moving around a bit might ease things up. Boy was I wrong! While sitting there drinking my coffee my back seized up tighter than ever. It brought tears to my eyes. I was totally unable to get off the stool. I wimped out a...

This morning it was very cold and extremely windy in Bridgeport, CT. I pulled the tarp off the saw and folded it up, but trying to handle a large tarp in high winds is an exercise in futility to say the least. It's very hard to keep hold of one of those things when it's trying to act as a sail, but I finally managed it and got unloaded. After I left I got about 5 miles down the road and started feeling a lot of pain in my lower back. Uh oh. By the time I reached the truck stop I was in ago...

Well now that was just damn dumb of me. I bought a couple of DVDs, including the Robin Williams flick Man Of The Year. I was opening the DVD and of course it has that stupid security tape on it so I pulled out my handy dandy Smith & Wesson spring assisted quick opening razor sharp lock blade knife to slice through the tape. I did that, was about to put the knife away when I dropped the damn thing. Plonk! It dropped point down and stuck right into my thigh. That's gonna leave a mark. Go...

I got up at 4:00 am so I could be at my first stop in Staatsburg, NY by 7:30. It was a school campus and as such had very narrow little streets. I managed to wiggle my way around to the back sided of the main building where I was guessing the generator was to be located. The little road that led to the loading dock area (I was correct in my guess) turned right from the street I was on at a very acute angle. It was impossible for me to make that turn in a normal fashion. As I needed to back...

Rory had been born with what some called a gift but he considered a curse. He could see into the future. Not all that far really, usually only a few seconds. It had kept him unnerved all of his 22 years of life. Today he was standing at the bus stop waiting for his bus to take him to work as he did at this time every week day. As he waited he saw a little girl of about 5 or so playing across the street. In a flash he saw in his mind that she would dart out into the street and under the wh...

One of the reasons i accepted this load into the NE part of the country was because it didn't need to be tarped as my other choice did. Also because the time frame was a bit more relaxed. Yeah, right. It was discovered that the generator going to NJ that was only supposed to be 77" tall was in fact 100" tall, making it too tall to legally fit on my upper deck. Ah well, I didn't wanna go to NJ anyway. Unfortunately the only other piece we have going in that general direction is a large i...

I woke pretty early this morning. I got up, wandered down to the lobby to get a much needed cup of coffee, and proceeded to start the morning wake up process. After my second cup I braved the cold to go out and start my truck so it could begin warming up. The wind has died down and the snow has finally stopped. That's a good thing. It's still pretty cold out though. At least I won't have the nasty stuff blowing in my eyes while securing my load this morning. I've had my coffee, the truc...

After I got my truck out of the shop, with a generator that was supposed to be fixed but turned out was still broken, I bobtailed into town for some lunch. On my way to grab a bite to eat I swung into the local computer shop and bought a 1GB memory stick for my laptop. I'd been meaning to add some RAM to it for some time and just hadn't got around to it yet. I popped the stick into the lappy and instantly improved it's performance by leaps and bounds as it came from the factory with only a me...

I was tired and crashed fairly early last night. As a result I woke a little before 6 this morning which is ok because it allows me some time to relax with some coffee before heading over to the yard to have my truck's generator serviced yet again. Maybe they'll actually fix it this time. Anyway, when I got up I took a peek out the window and my eyes were greeted by the sight of a sky full of falling, blowing snow. Yuck! I knew it was coming. It was all over the news. But still, actually s...

The weather cooperated for the most part today and I managed to make the delivery in WI a day early. While I was waiting for the crane to show up I called the office and let them know that I had made it a day early, would be unloaded soon, and had no intention of doing anything else but drive back towards the yard so I can get my generator repaired tomorrow. Well, have it worked on anyway. They've worked on it twice before already and it still isn't working. "R" said sure, no problem, head...
