A bunch of useless crap
Published on March 3, 2007 By MasonM In Blogging
I woke pretty early this morning. I got up, wandered down to the lobby to get a much needed cup of coffee, and proceeded to start the morning wake up process. After my second cup I braved the cold to go out and start my truck so it could begin warming up.

The wind has died down and the snow has finally stopped. That's a good thing. It's still pretty cold out though. At least I won't have the nasty stuff blowing in my eyes while securing my load this morning.

I've had my coffee, the truck is probably reasonably warmed up by now. I still have to pull my chains and straps off the load I picked up in Milwaukee yesterday before I can start loading and securing the load I'm taking to NY and NJ.

I guess it's about time I got my butt going even though I'd much rather just hibernate here in this nice comfy room.

Man, I hear you Mason.  This morning, after all the snow we got last night, the last thing I wanted was to get up and go back in to the hospital.

Here's something that sucks ass and certainly not in the good way: ALL WEEK LONG while I'm at work temps have been in the eighties and now on Saturday when I'm off and plan on kicking back with the grill and an ice chest of brewskies it's in the fifties! heh, now how fucked up is that?

Did they fix the generator?  As for temps, supposed to be 69 today, but 50 tomorrow.  However, I am stuck in the office because of DST!  Grrrrr....

I understand what ya mean.

I spoke too soon regarding the snow. By the time I left the room it had started snowing again. Damn!

Ain't that always the way?

Generator still borked. I went into the shop and bitched about it as soon as I had all my crap pulled off the load I hauled up last night.

Bummer about being stuck at the office. Installing new locale files I assume.

Installing new locale files I assume

Actually, new TZ files on MS, and a new config on the Routers and switches. The servers are easy. We only have about 100. However, we have 200 routers and about 400 switches!

Ah well, you say TZ I say locale Difference between Linux and MS I suppose. I'm not familiar enough with MS products to know how easy or difficult it is to change them, but in Linux it's just a matter of replacing a single file.

Can't do write a script to automate the updates for you so as to do them all at once, or are they all isolated from each each other and have to be accessed individually?

Texas weather is wacky. We were warm all last week as well...I even thought I would be putting my sweaters away. But I was totally wrong...stepped out yesterday to a cold, windy morning. And today was a bit chilly as well.

Hope you have all the work out of the way and are able to cozy in for the night, Mason.

Thanks. I'm now parked at the IN/OH line. I'm less than 11 hours from my first stop so I can do that tomorrow without too much trouble (assuming the weather doesn't screw me).

I did. I did the first couple, and then scripted it. It took me 3 days to do the 100 servers, and 2 hours to do 200 routers. The Switches can wait. (they are essentially dumb switches as there are no VLANS or monitoring anyway).

I thought you should be able to do that. Let the machines do the work
