It's amazing how life can do an about face so suddenly you have to stop and ask "what the hell just happened?". A couple of weeks ago I was just about as low as a person can get. I was unemployed, in physical and emotional pain, and depressed to the point of just giving up. I just couldn't see how things could ever get better. This past weekend I moved to Florida to stay at my mother's house while I looked for work and a place to live. I really didn't feel hopeful about the employment pros...

Ok, so it's not the greatest job in the world, but it's a start. Today I interviewed for a position in a telecommunications call center. While it's a pretty low level position, it's a start. and it does pay a little better than average for this area. I just got to Florida on Monday evening and here it is Wednesday and I got hired. Happened quicker than I expected. It's an indoor job that won't be hard on my bad back and it's a pretty nice and comfortable office environment. Business cas...

The trip down here was pretty unevent. I made it to Plant City around 4pm yesterday. It was good to see my mother again. I immediately dove into my job hunting and have a few prospects lined up to contact today. I may have to accept a postion that is somewhat less than I want for the moment. I'd rather have some immediate income than to wait around for the "perfect" job. Right now anything is better than nothing. Not much else to say at the moment. Going to set up an interview for this ...

I spent all week sorting and packing; deciding what was essential enough to earn a bit of the valuable space available. What clothing I just had to have, what was really not important or needed. Let's see, I'm moving to Florida, it's summer, so I think the heavy winter coat can stay. Shorts, lot's of shorts and tee shirts, tank tops, etc... And since I'll be job hunting, suits, ties, dress shirts, fancy socks, and dress shoes. Well, after a week of this, I finally have everything I nee...

WARNING: This is an article about generalities with regard to political ideologies. This article contains MY personal observations, opinions, and conclusions. It is all based solely on things I have observed personally and is not supported by sources other than my own observations (It's called thinking for yourself) It is just chock full of generalities. For those not familiar with Murphy's Law or just haven't reviewed them in a while, here's a pretty good collection. If you know of others, please add them. Nothing is as easy as it looks. Everything takes longer than you think. Anything that can go wrong will go wrong. If there is a possibility of several things going wrong, the one that will cause the most damage will be the one to go wrong. If anything simply cannot go wrong, it will anyway. If you perceive that there are...

Late yesterday I dropped my ailing laptop off at the top computer repair shop in town. The shop is owned and run by a fellow from Pakistan who is extremely good at what he does and he's always dealt with me honestly and professionally. I explained the symptoms to his wife(who works the counter) and that I was reasonably certain it was just a bad solder joint or two in the powering section. Well, he gives me a call a little while ago and tells me the estimate to repair it is $125. Well, I a...

Cool. I just found a posting for a job opening for an experienced technician to work on the electronic equipment on the Goodyear blimp. Sounds pretty cool. They were looking for someone with knowledge and experience in all manner of tv, radio, microwave, avionics electronics. Fits me to a T. Just emailed my resume to them. I think that it would be a pretty fun job traveling all over with the airship and maintaining her communications gear and lighted signs. Keeping my fingers crossed on...

I have set up two partitions on my laptop hard drive. One is a small Windows one, and the main, bigger one is Linux which I am running in at the moment. I really like the Opera browser in Linux because it's so much faster. Unfortunately I couldn't get logged into my JU account in Opera. Very strange. When I switched to Mozilla browser I had no trouble at all. I double checked all the security, cookies, and various other settings and couldn't find a reason for this. Anyone have any ideas...

My laptop has a problem in the powering circuit. Most likely a bad solder connection. If I just bump it or move it the wrong way it goes dead. No power at all. A few months ago it crashed and looked like it would never power up again without repairs. I set it aside and hadn't bothered with it since. Well, now that I'm getting ready to move I decided to give it a try. It powered up, I bumped it and it crashed. Not one to give up easily, I tried it again. I am typing this on it now. As lo...

I haven't played my harmonica in a long time. When I did, I was usually in the truck, alone. Today for some silly reason I pulled it out and began playing it. It's an old Marine Band by Hohner. My dog, Benny, has heard me play a number of instruments including a South American clay flute (my favorite), a guitar, piano, and a stereo (the one I'm best at besides a juke box). As soon as I started playing my harmonica Benny looks at me kinda weird and then begins howling. Now, I've never hear...

More from the old notebook: I feel that I have spent my entire life searching for something and never finding it. What am I searching for? Happiness? Myself? Both? Neither? I don't know if I have ever really known who I am. No, I DO know who I am. My depression had reached deep within me The fog, the blackness had enveloped my mind and body I was swallowed up and lost within it Within myself Although it feels like years It has only been weeks I am getting better now The da...
