Everything about me is random I wear a size 12 shoe I love mystery stories and am happily awed if a writer did a story well enough for me to not have it figured out too early. I got my first speeding ticket 2 weeks after getting my first license and motorcycle. 132mph in a 35mph zone. Neither the cop or my mother were too pleased with me. The first words out of the cop's mouth were "Damn I hate driving that fast!" I dropped out of High School in the 11th grade out of sheer boredom...

When I got out of bed and switched on the news this morning I was greated with weather radar image showing this year's first tropical depression threatening to become the first tropical storm to affect us this year. Right now it's over Western Cuba and heading into the Gulf of Mexico. As these are pretty warm waters it has real potential to become the first named tropical storm of the year. Even if it doesn't develop further it promises to give us some substantial rain late this weekend. ...

I've been giving some thought to something. It seems to me that every living thing on this planet depends upon the death of something else. It appears that life itself depends upon death. We sustain ourselves by consuming and digesting other living things in order to survive. Plants and animals alike serve as sustenance for us. This seems to be the way of things here. Something has to die for us to live. I can't think of a single living thing that doesn't derive it's life giving sustenance...

I wanted to prepare a goulash type meal for dinner tonight. I had the ground chuck browning and water boiling for the macaroni. I pulled the macaroni box out of the cabinet and discovered that it was almost empty. There wasn't nearly enough for this dish. I dumped it in the pot and it was definately not enough. I did have some Kraft mac n cheese, so I opened one of those and dumped the macaroni into the boiling water. That would be plenty now. After browing the meat I added some roma to...

My hair has always been somewhat unruly. It's nearly impossible for me to get it to stay combed without something to help hold it in place. It isn't curly or anything although it does have a natural wave to it, it's just a bit dry and the slighest breeze blows it all over my head. I've tried various hair grooming products over the years. Many of the new products either make the hair feel stiff, greasy, or simply don't work. I like my hair to look neat and remain combed, but I don't want it...

After spending the money for a Merkur Futur razor I have been doing a little reading up on shaving tips and techniques. I also joined a shaving forum. Yes, believe it or not there really is such a thing. I am almost 45 years old and I am learning that I have been shaving wrong all of these years. I've always just wet my face with hot water, slathered on some shave cream, and scraped off the whiskers with the razor. It seems that there is a lot more to it than that, at least according to th...

I honestly thought that the conspiracy theory loons who were advocating the NASA movie studio conspiracy had long ago faded away, but it seems they are indeed still out there. In the General category of a Linux forum I frequent just such a thread is currently alive and well. These people are truly nuts. I suppose some people just love a good conspiracy theory and will cling to them no matter what. I really should invest in the tinfoil hat industry as there doesn't seem to be any decline in...

I love cigars but often I don't have the time to smoke a full sized one. I've always kept a stash of small, very dark Rumrunner cigars . They're a very tasty rum flavored cigar from Indonesia and are a pretty nice quick smoke. Today I stopped by my local cigar shop to pick up another small black wooden box of Rumrunners (the box is cool, skull and crossbones on the lid). They had a box of the larger ones but no small ones. I asked if they were expecting to get more in to the store in the ...

I've been considering buying a usb thumb drive a.k.a flash drive for some time. At first they were more expensive than I thought they should be and passed on them. I've been watching the prices come down as storage capacity has come up. Just a few months ago a 1GB thumb drive was about $100. I just bought one today for $44. I have to say that I really like it. Travfer speeds are super quick. I was able to sync the personal files between my laptop and desktop very quickly using the thumb dr...

There's one beer left in the fridge. I'm tired and probably should go to bed. It's after midnight after all. But there is one beer left in the fridge. The thing is, as tired as I am, I am also still unwinding. I'm not sure I'm ready to submit to slumber. And there's one beer left in the fridge. What will I do? It's such a dilema. ... ... There's no beer left in the fridge.

recently my dsl provider announced that they were going to be adding a small surcharge to our bill. It was only something like $1.29 or something. According to the email I received it wasn't any sort of government tax or anything, they just felt like bilking us for a little extra money. When I received this email I shot off a rather scathing email back to them. I guess I wasn't the only one because I have now received an email from them saying that "due to customer concerns" they have decided...

Ok, a boring domestic entry. Dinner is on the stove simmering. New orleans style red beans and rice. A favorite of mine since childhood. The smell is wafting through the house and is starving me out. I'm really going to enjoy this when it's ready. If you've never had the pleasure of authentic red beans and rice you don't know what you're missing. It's traditionally made with smoked sausage in it and is a wonderful dish. Zatarans makes a pretty good quick and easy version that's quite go...

Geez, I thought I was losing it. I kept feeling like things were crawling on my skin, you know, that creepy crawly feeling you can get sometimes. I was sitting here working on updating my systems and kept getting that feeling. It was really starting to bug me. I haven't had that many beers I kept brushing at my legs and trying to ignore it. Finally I noticed a sugar ant crawling on my leg. I got to looking and sure enough there were several of the little buggers crawling on the carpet....

I'm watching that America's Most Wanted show. They just profiled a guy who has murdered some children. The most distinctive part of their description of him is that he has a mole below his left eye. The cop on the case said that "...it's very rare to have a mole in that location..." I have a mole under my left eye. Crap, I must be the guy! Of course, I haven't been in Alabama in a long time so that complicates things a bit, but that's a mere technicality. I have a mole there so I must be h...

I really hate getting calls from telemarketers. 8:45 PM and my phone rings. Is it someone I know? Nope. A telemarketer wanting to sell me windows. I decided "what the hell", and let her do her thing. I just listened until it came time for her to start asking those annoying qualifier questions. Her : "Do you own your home?" Me: "Yeah, I own the place where I live. It's really nice to own your own place." Her "Yes, sir it is. Do you..." Me: "Do you own your own place?" Her: "U...
