A bunch of useless crap
and other natural disasters

44 years ago today a terrible disaster happened; I was born, wholly against my will.

I was hoping to celebrate by going on a nice long ride today punctuated with some pub hopping, but between the remaining vestiges of the flu bug and the arriving Wilma weather, I'm holed up at home resting.

Mom bought the new tires for my bike last weekend as my birthday gift, gave me a nice card this morning, and has a nicer triple chocolate cake for later today ("no you can't have it for breakfast"). Nothing wrong with a peaceful, quiet day at home, but I'd rather be out riding.

I second that. Happy b-day and welcome to the 44 years old club- my membership expires next month. Sigh...

Thanks, Mano. While i'm not doing what I really want to be doing, I'm enjoying the relaxation and rest after a hectic (and sick) work week.

Thanks Shovel. Just remember, it isn't the age that counts, it's the mileage.

Umm, on second thought forget that as it puts me into even worse shape than I already am.

Bill Cosby said Chocolate Cake is the perfect breakfast.  Would he lie?

Happy Birthday!

Thanks Guy.

I actually tried to use that arguement with Mom this morning.

Someone on one of the cycling forums asked me if I view my birthday any differently after my near fatal accident.

I have to say that yes, I do. Considering how very, very close I came to being killed, my natal anniversary reminds me that I am fortunate to be able to celebrate yet another year living on planet Earth.

Life isn't perfect. My physical, financial, and living situations aren't exactly as I would like for them to be. But after being a breath away from not even having a living situation, it's all good.

Happy Birthday Mason! I hope you feel better and stay clear of the nasty storm.

Nah, just seems easier than sulking

Happy Birthday, Mason! Too bad about Wilma interfering with your bike riding, but considering what almost happened to you spending a peaceful, quiet day at home is a beautiful alternative.

Don't eat too much cake, you need to save room for some liquid refreshments.

Alas, no good refreshments here. Maybe I'll pop over to the store and pick some up before the severe rains start shortly. Just had a tornado reported on the ground just about 20 miles South of here so looks like it's going to be an interesting night.
