A bunch of useless crap
I don't think he had fun

Well we made it back home from Socrates' first trip to the vet. Being as I am the only person he is used to interacting with he was frightened by the people there. He especially didn't like the fact that they kept putting their hands on him, and was totally put out when the girl inserted the swab to get a sample for the worm test. I think he was very insulted by that.

The physical and injection went pretty well. He voiced a smal objection to the injection, but actually took it better than I expected. The real trouble started when the vet drew some blood for the feline leukemia test. You could hear Socrates raising hell all over the clinic. He was suddenly a very unhappy, angry kitty and wanted to bite somebody in the worst way. I really felt sorry for him, but it was for his own good.

He received a clean bill of health with one exception. He has ear mites. The vet said it was very common and he probably has had them all along. I have some drops I have to put in his ears for a couple of weeks to get rid of them. I had noticed that Socrates had a habit of shaking his head every once in a while, but as he didn't scratch and dig at his ears I never even thought about mites. Live and learn. The vet said the drops would have them gone in no time and his ears won't itch any more.

We're back home now and after demanding a little consolation attention Socrates is relieving the stress in typical cat fashion. A nap.

I knew Socrates would make for interesting reading Mason.

I have to laugh because you sound like a parent who took their kid to the Dr for shots....hahaha.

The kid screamed but its for his own good ~wipes tear away quickly~

Sally had her first visit at 6 weeks!  Poor little thing.

But yea, you should have seen Scotty when they took his temperature (he is a 7 year old white male)!  Good thing I was holding him, or that doc would have been confetti!

Yeah I can well imagine. This vet uses a kind of tight fitting bag they put the cat in to restrict it's movements while doing the blood draw. I suppose it's easier than getting clawed and bitten. I know Socrates didn't care for it much and he let them know it.

My cat had an ear mite problem from last June until this March. I took her to the vet every 1 or 2 weeks. Luckily he waived the office visit fee for me. I bought 3 or 4 kinds of medicine from him, each of which cost about 7 dollars. I also got one from Petsmart. I finally got one from the vet that cost about 17 dollars. It finally did the trick.

This stuff was $15 so maybe it's the good one.

Does it have to be kept refrigerated?

No need, that's all healed up now. He limped for a few days and that was about it. I did mention it to the vet but he said he was walking normally on it so no problem.

I'm sure he'll be all over it once he wakes up from his nap.
