A bunch of useless crap

Just got home off the road. The trucking thing has been going better than I had hoped. The boss fixed me up with a nice new truck and I spent a few days running some local loads just to get back into the swing a little bit and test myself as to whether I could actually still do it.

While there are some things I have to do a bit differently to accomodate the bum hip, overall it went quite well. I discovered I can't just jump up on the trailer like I used to, or down either for that matter. That made things a little difficult at times, but I will be taking a small step ladder with me when I leave this time which should solve that problem.

The driving is pretty good although I do have to stop every 3 or 4 hours to stretch my legs and loosen up the hip. I can live with that.

I do have to admit that it felt pretty damn good to be back on the road again. I now truly feel that I've made some progress on recovering from the wreck and getting at least some part of my life back.

Welcome home Hop-a-long!  Is this Wisconsin that you are home or back in Florida?

Glad you could do it.  Are all your trips up north, or are you going to be driving coast to coast?

Thanks folks. I am taking it easy, frequent rest breaks to walk around and keep the hip loosened up. Guy, I'm back home, in Florida.

I'll pretty much be driving all over the country, wherever the good paying loads take me. Most of our loads come out of the yard in WI with multiple stops (that's where the money is), and then they try to line something up to take me back to the yard to get another good paying outbound load.

The load I brought down consisted of an excavator going to St Augustine, a concrete pump to Orlando, another concrete pump to Tampa, and a wheel loader I delivered in Pompano Beach. Pompano Beach was the only snag as those guys are new in the business and had no idea how to unload the wheel loader from the top deck of the trailer.

After they wasted two hours of my time they finally listened to me and I instructed them on how to get the 10,000lbs beast down to the ground without damage and I was then on my way home.
