A bunch of useless crap

This weekend was pretty quiet. I cleaned house, surfed the net, drank a few beers (ok, more than a few) and rested.

I am slowly getting the place put together in some semblence of order and it's not looking too bad now. Saturday I went to Big Lots and picked up a sponge mop, a set of rugs for the bathroom, and a pair of oven mits which I discovered the need for after taking a pizza out of the oven using only a dish towel.

I put the sponge mop to work on the bathroom floor right away as I had been cleaning the floor with just a rag and didn't feel it was as clean as could be. The smell of Pinesol always nice. After it dried I set the rugs in place which made the bathroom much more comfortable and presentable.

I haven't really started any sort of decorations for the place yet, but will probably start that soon. All of the walls are bare, except the one in the bedroom where my wave board hangs. The place really could stand some dressing up.

I'm going to be working some weird hours this week, which will finish up the training sessions for my officers. 1800 - 0200 all week this week to train those people, and then I can return to my normal schedule. While these aren't terrible hours, it does mean traveling home by bicycle at the peak drunk driver period, about which I am less than thrilled. But, being as traffic in general is light, I'll just assume any vehicle I see is a potential drunk and pull off until they pass. Better safe than sorry. No need letting some drunk come up behind me and use me as a speed bump.

Today I put my brand new garden hose to work (also purchased at Big Lots) and washed my bike from top to bottom, lubed it all up, and aired the tires so as to be ready for the ride to work tonight.

Ok, this is a long and boring article, but that's pretty much it for me at the moment. Enjoying getting settled into my new domicile and having some peace and quiet.

I still hate washing dishes, but somehow even that chore makes me feel more at home.

Glad you are getting your place together. It does take a while but each piece makes you feel that much more at home.

Decided to knock off early tonight. Will have to put in a few hours on Saturday to make it up, but that's ok as I didn't have any plans anyway.

Yeah, is always an adventure riding at that time of night.

True. I'm feeling more at home here every day. Slowly making the place my own. Now, any more decorating tips you ladies would care to share would be more than welcome.

Nothing better than coming home to your own space!! What more could you want?

unless it's a dog??? how about a dog? from a shelter and one that's housebroke?
it would be there to greeet you, love you, and be a companion.

ok, how about a plant? a low maintence plant? like a cactus or even a regular ivy?
plants add green, a color for relaxation, cactus included, they come in many colors!

Maybe a throw that's got football players on it, or whatever your fave sport.
personally I'd love one with the Vikings on it, they just won their 4th game in a row!

It's nice you're settling in and making your new home homely! Don't overdo it on the work front. I know, easier said than done, especially when they rely on you so much.
