A bunch of useless crap
I'm Too Old For this

I stopped by one of the local bars tonight after my daily ride. I have come to know most of the regulars, and they me, and can usually expect a bit of friendly conversation with my brew whenever I stop in. Tonight there were a few folks there from out of town, mostly bikers passing through.

One guy in the place was being especially obnoxious and annoying. Loud talk, somewhat less than friendly demeanor, and generally making an ass of himself. Normally I just ignore people like this as they tend to make a show of themselves and then go away. This guy was intent on being the center of attention and was in no way happy to be ignored by anyone.

At one point he decided that I hadn't payed him enough attention and he proceeded to pick my bike helmet up from the bar. Being as that helmet cost me a fair amount of money recently, I wasn't too pleased at this turn of events and took it away from him with the suggestion that he go bother someone else.

Well, one thing led to another and he took a swing at me. I'll admit he caught me a little off guard with the sudden swing and I didn't react quite quickly enough. His punch caught me along the side of the head as I tried to avoid it.

When it was over with I had put him on the floor and was feeling it as my bum hip wasn't happy with all the sudden activity. A couple of the regulars roughly escorted him to the door with the suggestion that he not come back while I tried to walk off the pain in my hip.

I'm getting too old for this crap.

At least YOU had HIM on the floor and not the other way around!

Bleah. Still sucks. May I recommend a little trick I learned in Korea?

If you can, apologize and buy him a drink. Then just as the bottle/glass is up against his mouth and tipped, hit it right into his teeth. Nasty, but you rarely have to fight any further.

Yeah, Mano it could have easily gone the other way as I'm not exactly 100%.

Spc NS, actually I've seen that one before. To tell the truth I didn't want to have to hit him at all and I did at one point try to settle him down by offering him a beer. Unlike him, I never sucker punch anyone even though some of them dearly deserve it.

Ah well, no permanent damage. After a good night's sleep I feel fine. No residual effects.
