and he's doing his job well.
When I first received this computer from Dr. Guy, I was a bit disappointed to find that the sound and video cards didn't want to play with Linux. I installed Windows Xp just to have an OS and be able to get online again. But I really wanted my Linux back.
I spent some time tinkering with some various configurations and installation scripts. I finally solved the card issues but the system refused to boot from a Linux installation CDROM. Rats!
I made a Linux boot diskette and a couple of installation diskettes, downloaded all of the installation packages to a partition on another harddrive, and managed to get the installer to use that harddrive as the installation source. Finally, I have my Linux back up and running on this machine. My penguin is home once again.
This machine runs much much better now than it did with Windows. It's much more responsive and everything is running smoothly. Thanks again, Dr. Guy!
