A bunch of useless crap
Published on August 28, 2005 By MasonM In Blogging
I now have the computer Dr. Guy generously sent me up and running, configured more or less to my liking, and am once again able to get my daily internet fix.

Mom bought me a wireless keyboard and wireless optical mouse so I can recline a bit while surf so as to be more comfortable on my still healing hip. It's pretty cool. I can sit back comfortably with the keyboard on my lap (so I'm used to laptops, sue me LOL) and the optical mouse next to me within easy reach. The 17" monitor is easy to read even at a bit of a distance.

At some point in the future, when finances allow, I'll add some much needed RAM and a bigger harddrive as these resources are in short supply on this machine. But I am certainly not complaining in any way, shape, or fashion. I'm extremely happy to be back in touch with the rest of the world.

I am still working in security, but have changed companies as the current one offered me more money, better hours, and a much nicer work environment than the previous one. I have what I consider a fantastic shift working 1PM to 9PM Monday through Friday. I get to sleep in mornings and stop in at my favorite local pub on the way home at night if I like.

My rather unusual bicycle has made me something of a minor celebrity both at work and at the pub. I have at least a dozen conversations every day at work with people curious about my bike and folks at the pub are always talking about it whenever I show up. It makes a great conversation piece lol. It seems that no matter where I ride I have people asking about it or making comments about it. I now understand what a fellow bent rider told me when I first bought it; "If you're going to ride a bent, make sure you have good people skills."

Ok, I admit it, I do enjoy it most of the time. Once in a while I am short on time and don't really want to be engaged in conversation about my bike, but most of the time it's fun. I've made quite a few acquaitances thanks to my unusual looking ride.

The hip is still healing and getting stronger thanks to daily riding and I am losing a substancial amount of weight. When i first started trying to walk again and was a ble to ride a bit I weighed in at about 250 lbs. As of this morning I'm down to 202 lbs and still dropping. I am feeling stronger and healthier and look forward to slimming down some more. My target is 180 lbs which is a healthy weight for me.

I have even bought some new shorts a whole size smaller and they fit comfortably where a couple of months ago the larger size was more than a little snug. Now the larger size practically falls off of me if I don't cinch my belt nice and tight. Oh yeah, I had to buy a new belt too as the old one ran out of smaller holes.

I guess that's enough rambling for now. have fun y'all.

Wow, am just perusing your blog and am delighted to see how great you're doing! YEA for the weight loss and muscle city!
Hey, I lost 15 #'s myself the 12 days I was in the nursing home. Hope to keep it up, or rather keep it off and keep losing too.
Dr. Guy sure is sweet huh? glad you're back online
