A bunch of useless crap
Life's Little Treats
Published on May 5, 2005 By MasonM In Blogging
Once in a while despite the troubles of the world or one's own less than ideal circumstance we need to just take a little time and enjoy something just for ourselves. It really doesn't matter what that little something may be.

It could be a song on the radio that means just a little something extra, a bird singing outside our window, the company of an old friend, or a chocolate cream Oreo cookie. Now, I'm not real big on sweets, but these wonderful little cookies consisting of round hard chocolate wafers sandwiching a chocolate cream frosting are a nice little treat in the middle of the afternoon.

I will admit that I have become hopelessly addicted to these cookies. I must force myself to limit my enjoyment of them to a couple of cookies in the afternoon. After all, with my forced limited activity it wouldn't take much to elevate my already 200lbs to a very flabby and unhealthy level. I lost 50lbs over the past 6 months and would hate to regain it.

But they sure are good.

Between the little cookie treats and relaxing in the porch swing on the lanai listening to the song birds, I try to find my little pleasures where I can.

Enjoy one for me, wouldja? With a wife and four daughters, all chocolate is confiscated at the point of entry around here (and I think my wife can sniff it out!)

My wife just discovered the PB Oreos!  She made me go out in a driving rainstorm at 9pm to get her some.  I know, she is an addict, and I am an enabler!

Damn Oreos!

I haven't tried the PB ones yet. I'm too addicted already and I do love the whole chocoalte/PB thing anyway so it may be too much for me to resist.

mmmmmmmmm...chocolate.
Guy, didn't you know that women were born with the ability to sense chocolate from 50 yrds away {sometimes more}?

I'm the same way with Reeces PB cups in any shape or form or flavor.

For me, it's all about the classic Oreo... not the doublestuff... no different flavorings... just the hard chocolate cookies and the thin layer icing in the middle. A few of those and a nice cold glass of milk to dunk them in.. pure heaven

Maybe the milk makes a difference for the regular Oreos because I never really cared for them. I'm lactose intolerant so never did the milk thing with them.

Ahh, Mason....that's where the beauty of life lies, IMO....in the small, simple things. I derive more pleasure from sitting on my patio, drinking coffee and watching the mourning doves coo than I do from most anything else.

I call it being 'simple minded'. Not in the educationally sub-normal kind of way, but being able to find happiness and contentment in little things.

I agree whole-heartedly.

There is much to said for slowing down and simplifying things.

I just noticed that this little article is featured. Thanks Brad. I really didn't think it was worthy of such attention, but I'll take what I can get.
