How Would You Choose Your Wishes?

If you could be granted three conditional wishes what would they be?

The conditions of the three wishes are as follows:

1. One wish must completely selfless, benefitting you in no way.

2. One wish must be totally selfish, benefitting only yourself and no-one else in any way.

3. One wish may benefit anyone of your choosing and is not limited to a single person.

If all conditions are not met , all wishes are void.

So, how would you wish?

Ahhh...good point.

I'm going to answer anyways though.

1. That every child in the world had at least one adult/guardian that loved them wholeheartedly and who worked to provide the best possible life for them (not money, per se, but proper care, discipline, opportunity, etc.) and protected them from those who would harm them.

2. Mind-reading ability (to be used for good and not evil, I promise, hehe).

3. Health and prosperity for my entire family.

MM and Allsion: sorry, not even close. You've blown it on your second wish.

Dr. Guy, well, you are correct in that the very first condition makes the entire thing impossible. There is no wish one could make that didn't benefit you as you would benefit from receiving the second wish which could only be possible if all conditions are met. An unsolvable logic loop.

I was kinda hoping it would take a little longer for the loop to be spotted though.

Wahine, very nice thoughts but utterly impossible to solve.

Infogeek. #1 was rather amusing and inspired, but sadly you still reap the benefit of meeting all conditions, therefore the first wish does in fact benefit you. Sorry.

1. I wish for my friends to be happy, for them not to be at eachother's throats....at least one in particular.
2. I wish for a layout of psychic abilities which include but are not limited to: telepathy, psychokinesis, pyrokinesis, and some super intelligence for good measure. That's fairly selfish

#1 - that all my friends here at JoeUser (you have no idea who you are) would magically have 5,000 dollars magically deposited into their bank accounts tmrw. But no one would know that it was because of me. (that doesn't benefit me)

#2 - I want just enough money to pay off my truck, my car loan, my horse trailer, and my credit cards. I still want to work and continue my life as is, I just want to have more say in what I spend my money on every month. Whose idea was it to buy that damn new horse trailer anyway? (no one else would benefit except me)

#3 - I wish that all the people here at JU who are suffering physically, spiritually, or emotionally would be magically cured of their ailments. (You know who you are)

1. I wish that the wars over seas would end.

2. I wish I could travel all over the world not worrying about how much I am spending.

3. I wish that I could find happiness with the person I am kinda with right now.
