A bunch of useless crap

Today I finally got around to getting a Windows phone. It'll take me a few days to get it set up the way I want and to get used to using it, but so far I am really digging it. It really is a very good phone OS.

Between the three choices available through VZW, I went with the Nokia Lumia 822. I really do like this phone. I've spent the past couple of hours downloading the apps I need. The only app I really need that isn't (yet) available for WP8 is one I use for work to scan my paperwork to the office. Hopefully that company will port the app over to WP8 sooner or later.

In the meantime I can still use my Android GS3 for that task, so no big deal.

I really hope the Windows phone will catch on more as people eventually gravitate to Windows 8 as that will mean more app developers will build apps for it (although it is currently the fastest growing app store out there, basically from playing catch up). The OS is smooth, responsive, and just feels complete, although it's relatively young and does have some areas that need improvement.

I'm sure upgrades will address those areas as it goes along. I remember early Android, which didn't impress me at all, and now it has come a long way and is a respectable mobile OS. I feel that competition is good and I hope MS steps up and gives iOS and Android and run for their money as I think all three will improve as a result.

Yep, I have a Nokia 920 and really enjoy it.

Cool. The 920 is nice but, for me, it's too big and the lack of an sd card slot is a deal killer. They really should have included added storage on that phone. That said, I'm really digging the Windows Phone.

After my bad experience with the Surface, I will wait on the Windows Phone.  I like the Android.  I use to be a pure Windows Guy for the simple reason of flexibility.  I am afraid Windows is moving to the closed shop approach which is going to kill it in my eye.

Dr Guy

After my bad experience with the Surface, I will wait on the Windows Phone.  I like the Android.  I use to be a pure Windows Guy for the simple reason of flexibility.  I am afraid Windows is moving to the closed shop approach which is going to kill it in my eye.

I've never been crazy about Windows. Win 8 is the first version I can say I actually like. Integrating a single OS among portable devices and computers is a great idea. Computing is going more and more mobile, and cloud-centric. I like it.

Windows Phone still has a way to go, but it's still relatively new. They are working on improving the integration of the various device versions, but aren't there yet. I expect to see some major changes in that regard with the next version of Windows Phone.

I still have to use my GS3 to scan my paperwork to the office as Transflo doesn't (yet) have a Windows Phone mobile app, but that's the only thing I can't yet do with the Windows Phone.

With your experience with the Surface RT, the Windows Phone might not be for you, yet.

I like Android well enough but was growing bored with it. My GS3  is rooted and running a custom ROM so I get the best out of it, and it is a great phone. I got the Windows Phone more out of geek curiosity than anything LOL
