I have been doing my walking for exercise wearing an old pair of lightweight hiking shoes. My feet have been killing me because those shoes are simply not made for what I have been doing. This morning I went over to Dick's Sporting Goods.
I lucked out in that the young lady working the shoe department is a runner and actually knows what she's talking about. Once I explained to her that all of this is new to me, I know nothing at all about picking out the right athletic shoes, and what I intend to do with them she watched me walk, asked a bunch of questions including how much I wanted to spend (as little as possible LOL), and then told me I needed stability shoes.
She brought me three pairs to try on, two Brooks and one Asics. I walked around in each of them. The Brooks felt ok but didn't feel like they were really supporting the arch in my foot. The Asics felt great.
I bought the Asics 1170 shoes and immediately went for a walk in them. Wow, I had no idea a pair of shoes could feel so good or make such a huge difference. My feet didn't bother me at all.
I have a feeling I am going to hate putting on my work boots tomorrow LOL.
I am laid over in PA since yesterday. I am waiting to pick up a load and it won't be ready until some time tomorrow. I should get the email giving me the pick up time later today. In the meantime I can get out and do some walking.
