I took a short run down to Sioux City, IA. No big deal, just a snow blower truck. In less than 500 miles my truck went through 4 gallons of coolant. That is NOT a good sign.
Well, I made it back to WI today, after another 4 gallon of coolant, and put my truck into the engine shop in Milwaukee. They offered several times to give me a ride up to our yard, but I said that I would stick around until either they had it fixed or said they couldn't get it done today.
In my experience these folks will pull a mechanic off of one job to go do another. My sticking around and waiting for the truck made them stick to the job.
They finally finished the repair, replacing the EGR cooler, late this afternoon. I then called our shop and let them know I was on my way and needed my APU repaired and that I would get there about 1/2 hour before they would normally close and I expected to get into the garage as soon as I arrived.
I did, and after about an hour they had the APU up and running.
I checked into the local hotel and went over to Applebee's for dinner. I was told they are doing a trivia game sort of thing so I decided to stick around for it.
Normally I am very good at trivia games, but I have to admit that I finished 6th in this game. Too many questions about television shows and other such nonsense about which I pay little attention.
Ah well, it was fun playing and it passed the time quite nicely. Much better than watching television all evening.
Tomorrow is another day, and I hope that it will prove more financially profitable than the past week or so has done.
