I was originally planned to haul an over-sized load out to Washington but the great state of Minnesota threw a wrench in the works and wouldn't issue a permit until Tuesday. So instead dispatch put me on a load going to Vermont. Cool enough as that allowed me time to get a room and even visit the pipe shop in Milwaukee on Saturday to pick up some of my favorite pipe tobacco before heading out.
As I was sitting in the Applebee's next to the hotel "R" called me and asked me what I was doing. I said I was sitting in Applebee's. "Are you drinking?" he asked. "Of course" I replied. He had a short run he was trying to find someone to cover. Guess it wasn't me.
He called me again later and said he had me on a load to Louisiana that had to be there at noon on Sunday. I was like, well ok, if that's the deal that's the deal but what happened to Vermont?
He called me yet again later and told me he got someone else to cover the Louisiana load because I did'nt make him feel "warm and fuzzy" about the load and I was back on the VT load. Whatever.
Gotta love trucking. Things change faster than a politician's mind in election year.
