A bunch of useless crap

Yesterday I delivered a couple of snow plow blades in Washington. One plow blade, along with a hitch and a spare tire, went to the port in Seattle. The other blade, along with a hitch and spare tire, went to the port in Tacoma. Both are going to the same Air Force base in Alaska. Why on two different ships from two different ports? Who knows?

The trip out here was fairly pleasant. I ran into a little snow in Wyoming and a pretty fierce snowstorm coming across Snoqualmie Pass in Washington, but at least the road was clear and I had no trouble making the crossing.

I have to pick up a container at the port in Seattle tomorrow, so today has just been a down day with a lot of sitting around and goofing off. It's been somewhat rainy and chilly all day which does nothing for the motivation factor at all. I had planned on using this down time to do some much needed housekeeping in my truck.

I did get started on it this morning and got some little bit done, but by lunch time I just ran out of motivation completely. I don't expect to be able to pick up the container until some time tomorrow afternoon as it hasn't yet been cleared by Customs, so I'll get some more of the housekeeping done tomorrow morning while I am waiting.

A dreary, chilly day like today was really meant for sitting and looking out the window while gently puffing away on a good pipe anyway.

I'll be hauling the container to Detroit (yuck!). Along the way, once I've done the basic picking up and organizing stuff in the truck, I'll likely stop at a truck stop and hire one of the cleaning ladies who often work them to scrub the floors, clean the carpet in the sleeper, and clean the dash.  Spring cleaning, you know. Those ladies usually do a much better job of it than I am likely to do myself, and it's well worth the twenty or thirty bucks they usually charge,

Last night was passed quite enjoyably down at the Mount Si Tavern just down the road from the truck stop. I've been stopping in there for several years and have come to know the staff as well as many of the regulars there. I spent a slightly chilly evening sitting out on the back porch smoking my pipe, listening to the Blues playing over the speakers, and having a few adult beverages. A very relaxing evening.

The weather report is calling for as much as two feet of snow on the mouontain tonight and I am hoping that won't be causing me any delays in getting across the pass tomorrow once I am loaded. As much as I enjoy the scenery around here one day of down time is quite enough. My poor wallet is crying to be fed.

You do seem to be more mellow now that you are back on the road.  As for snow?  What is that?  We are having an early summer (mid 90s).  That will end soon. But it is still nice to ear shorts again!

Yeah, working is a lot better than not working.

I wish! I had to go over 200 miles out of my way when I left Seattle because they were requiring chains to cross Snoqualmie due to the snow up there (I don't chain up, I figure if the road is that bad I don't need to be on it).

Not too bad up here in MI though. A tad chilly, but not snowing.
