A bunch of useless crap

This morning I spoke with the engine shop that has been working on my truck since last Wednesday. They still have the engine torn down and still have to replace the pistons and cylinder lining as the blown head gasket that started this mess caused the tops of the pistons and the cylinder walls to be burnt and pitted.

Wonderful.

So basically they are having to rebuild the engine. This is probably a good thing in the long run as the warranty is due to run out in less than 200,000 miles (not long for a long haul truck), and it's best to get this done now. But in the short run, I have been down now for nearly a week and the fellow said "it'll be a miracle" if it's ready on Friday and felt it would more likely be a week from today (next Tuesday).

Argh!

That will be nearly two weeks of down time, stuck in a motel, making no money. That sucks big time.

I'll be calling a cab shortly to take me over there so I can retrieve some additional items from my truck. This place has a guest laundry room and I want to get some additional clothing to wash as well as my laundry soap. I am allergic to a good many of the laundry soaps on the market and always keep a bottle of hypoallergenic detergent in the truck for washing my clothes.

The boredom of sitting around doing nothing is really starting to set in on me. Sadly there just isn't that much near this motel. An IHOP, a motel lounge with decent wings, a gas station/C-store, and the county jail. That's pretty much it.

Ah well, it is what it is and there isn't much I can do about it. Grin and bear it as they say.

It was snowing in Chicago yesterday (I had a layover there), so maybe the nasty weather will clear by the time you get back on the road.

Good luck on that.

look on the bright side Mason,  you're not sitting in a jail,  eating bologna sandwiches,  and watching one of those 56 " HD televisions....jk

well,  it's almost spring and the roads hopefully will be decent and your truck up and running soon

Being couped up in the motel almost feels like being in jail.

I am greatly looking forward to the return of Spring.
