Been coughing for a couple of days now. Sinus issues too. Seems I've come down with a Summer cold. Sucks.

Summer colds just are the most miserable of any time of the year.  Hope you can shake it soon.  Those Texas towns are a couple of the worst in my opinion.  Hope you get a good load out to better scenery.

Stay safe and travel well.

Mason, did you ever make it to those free clinics? I think you said they were in Tennessee. You shouldn't have mentioned them because now I'm going to remind you of them.

I read your other post about the Texas heatwave.  My friends live about an hour from Dallas and they were saying this past Friday was like 107! YEEEEEEEEEEEEHAAAAAAAAW or should I say YEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT!

If you going to get yourself some Texas BBQ Brisquet, you might as well get some Chicken Fried Steak down there too!  That's good eats! Or some Mexican.

Drink alot, that is always a good way to help with a sore throat if you get one - keep the throat always wet and it won't hurt so bad. I always buy medicinal tea for treating a cold and it seems to help to ease the symptoms. The one I buy contains willobark, lime tree blossoms, licorice root, elderblossoms, meadowsweet blossoms, mullein, peppermint, chamomille, dandelion and peonyblossoms. Quite a mix.. but it works. Especially willowbark lowers fever, pain and is anti-inflammatory. Maybe a drugstore or pharmacy has something similar. Get well soon.

I just came recently on JU but I found it really curious that you are knitting as well. I mean you have to admit that it would be a strange sight to see someone knitting in a truckstop or bar.. no wonder people comment on it. But I think it's really cool that you do, knitting is a very old cultural technique, thousands of years old. Everybody should know how, and at least youll always have warm socks around.

Thanks. I agree, Summer colds are the worst.

I'm over in Terrell, TX now. No load out from here so spending the weekend in a motel here. At least it gives me a chance to get over this cold.

Nope, I've not managed to make it past one of those trucker clinics yet.

It was 105 here in Terrell yesterday. Quite warm ya'll.

Chicken fried steak is a far second to some good brisket. Had some brisket for dinner last night. It was quite good.

Thanks. I've been consuming hige volumes of Gatorade to stay hydrated. That's always important when one has a cold, but it's especially vital in this heat.

Thanks. I made a short visit to the local saloon last evening. It's really more of a country dance club with a lot of very young people. Not really my kind of place and that, combined with my not feeling very well, caused me to make it a very short visit. I stayed long enough to drink a couple of cold ones, which tasted quite good after coming in out of the heat. I did spend a few minutes knitting and had several of the young ladies who work there gathered around to check it out and talk to me. A couple of them also knit and were especially interested in my work. While those ladies are far too young for an old fart like me, I have to admit I quite enjoyed that bit.

As I'm a bit under the weather I doubt there'll be much to tell.

Oh my brain just conjured several really bad oneliner pickup sayings with knitting - which I'll refrain from uttering lol primarily because they weren't in english and I don't have knitspeak down in english. Maybe ill translate them sometime and then you can tell me how successful they were. But if they use the needle to poke your eye out, don't sue me!
