A bunch of useless crap

After killing time all weekend I will finally be hitting the road again later today. I have to go down to Greencastle, PA and pick up some truck frames heading for a painting facility in Green Bay, WI.

The load won't be ready to pick up until around 1:00 PM local time and I'm only about 30 minutes away from there. For now I am just hanging out in the motel until check out time, and will then go to the truck stop to fuel up and grab a bite to eat before heading on down there.

I would have preferred to make the pick up first thing this morning and got going down the road, but it is what it is. At least I know I have a load and won't be sitting around any longer. No money to be made just sitting around. I'll be really glad when the economy starts to pick up again. My income hasn't been anything to write home about the past few months.

Ah well, at least I still have a job at the moment, thousands out there can't say the same. Normally there are trucking companies out there begging for drivers, but with the slow economy and literally thousands of trucking companies gone belly up, many are laying off drivers while others have hiring freezes in place. Guess I shouldn't complain.

I would have liked to have slept in this morning, and did try to do so, but wound up getting up fairly early anyway. Between my bum hip getting stiff after too long in the bed and my just not being much of a late sleeper I dragged it out of bed whether I really wanted to or not.

Watching the news here this morning. Am I the only one who thinks that the media is making far more of a fuss about this new swine flu than it deserves?  Is it just because it's called "swine flu"? A lot of people die of the flu every single year yet that doesn't seem to garner the media attention of swine flu. Seems they are blowing it out of proportion just to frighten people.

Oh well, I guess if they;re afraid that if they don't try and keep people frightened and/or worried they won't have anything to talk about.

Personally, I'm far more concerned about the economy than piggy flu.
