A bunch of useless crap

I delivered the combine at the port in Baltimore on Thursday. It was pretty much an all day deal just getting the damn thing off my trailer but I finally was empty. I wasn't at all surprised when I was told to go to the truck stop and wait. I expected that.

I headed down to the TA in Jessup, MD as it was the closest place I was likely to find a place to park. Jessup. is a shithole and always has been, every trucker who has run the East coast knows this. It's a great place to get robbed, shot, or stabbed. It is what it is. I spent the night there.

When I spoke with dispatch Friday afternoon and there was no load out I informed them that I would be relocating to a better place. I moved about 2 hours up to Carlisle, PA. While no garden spot it's a much better location than Jessup. Besides, there's a bar right across the street from the truck stop.

I'm spending the weekend here, having a few adult beverages and killing time. At least I've managed to get some more work done on the sweater I am knitting.

Tomorrow I'll do some laundry and just hang out. I'm almost out of clean clothes again.

I had planned on getting a room here but found out that the car show is this weekend and all of the rooms are booked. Oh well, shit happens.

Met a couple of nice ladies in the bar and had some good conversation with them in between getting ribbed by my fellow truckers for the knitting thing. Pretty much all the ribbing ended the same way "You're too big to piss off, I was just kidding". I have a good sense of humor and didn't take offense to any of it as I knew it was all in good fun.

Life is far too short to take seriously and good times are best enjoyed during thetime we're here. I love a good laugh.

I've kind of been picking on KFC of late in one article she wrote. I sort off feel bad about it in that it's mostly just been for my own amusement. I tried to interject a small bit of humor into the thread, which Brandy picked up on right away, or at least singled out, although I was hoping KFC would have nailed. Oh werll,  Hopefully there are no hard feelings there. Most of what I write isn't seious anyway (ala The Onion) and I think most folks have picked up on that by now.

For now I am going to kick off my lizard skin boots, kick back, and see if I can pick up any tv stations. Nothing like a bit of mindless media to get one ready for sleep.

hey Mason.....of course no hard feelings.  I'm getting to know you better the more and more we spar.....and besides.....we always seem to get along ok even taking those opposite sides.

I speak my mind and you do too so it does make for interesting banter.

I'm still waiting for you to tell me why I'm such a religious zealot tho.....

We've stayed in Carlisle a few times on the way to VA from ME when the kids were in school there.  I'm getting ready to go "on the road again" soon as well.  We're flying to VA, renting a truck, and helping a son move to Iowa with stops in KY and Dayton along the way.

While I love to take these road trips and we've done quite a few over the years, I can't imagine doing it as much as you.  It gets tiring and it's always good to get home.

Thanks for the tip about Jessup.  I'll remember that.

PS....your humor went right over my heard.

Thanks. No plans to head home yet, the economy and my income are still too slow to feel good about taking time off.

Sure, I sleep in the truck most nights. It really isn't so bad. I have a nice big bed, a fridge, microwave, and other conforts. When the APU is running it's not bad at all as it provides electricity and climate control. Unfortunately it's on the blink at the moment. As it's pretty warm today and the sun was heating up the truck I got myself a nice comfy room.

Oooops, sorry about that. I knew that but had been drinking, well, ya know...
