As I am stuck in the hotel until Monday I went over to Applebee's for dinner and a few adult beverages.
I saw a few people I know and had some good conversations, and met a few new folks thanks to my knitting. It seemed a pretty typical night.
At one point a forner server/bartender came in, she hadn't worked there for some time, and we were chatting (after exhanging hugs and such). At one point I excused myself and went to the restroom. As I came back to my seat I overheard the conversation between her and a server who I didn't even know knew my name.
"Mason is here! I know you would want to see him."
"Yeah, he just went to the restroom."
"Oh, ok, I just knew you would want to talk to him, he's so cool"
That's about the time I sat back down.
I had no clue that this server even knew who I was, never mnid knowing my name. Cool? Me? Hardly.
But it did make me feel good to hear this. Good to know that some of the young folks can still appreciate us old folks.
