I'm in the process of doing my laundry and getting packed up to hit the road again. This time around part of this process is to determine what warmer weather clothes I'll leave behind to be replaced by my Winter clothing. Even in the Winter I do still visit some places like Florida and other deep South areas where it stays relatively warm year-round so I always have a small amount of warm weather clothes along with me.
This morning I took the time to finish off the sapphire blue sweater I made earlier this year. It wasn't much, just weaving in the loose tails of yarn that I just hadn't got around to doing yet. I have to admit that I am really looking forward to being able to wear a sweater that I knit with my own two hands.
I have lots of hats and socks and such that I've made, but this is my first full garment and yeah I am kinda of proud of it even if it is just a simple raglan sweater without any fancy work in it. There are a few mistakes in it, but really I think I am the only one who would even notice them. To anyone else it's just a plain blue sweater.
I really need to block the sweater but haven't done so as I don't have a blocking board or suitable spot to use in lieu of a blocking board. Hopefully I'll pick one up in the near future. It looks just fine to me even without blocking.
I'm hoping the economy, and our business, will start picking up soon and I can afford to order some more yarn for another sweater. It would make a nice long Winter project to work on in my spare time. Of course that's the catch-22, I need to be busy to afford to buy the yarn, but that also means less spare time for knitting.
It's a beautiful day here. Sunny and moderate in temperature. Damn near perfect. I've been taking advantage of the nice weather and hanging my laundry out to dry instead of using a dryer. Makes them smell nice and fresh and saves on the electric bill. Pretty much a win-win.
Ah well, back to the chores.
