Fried Ice Cream mmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

Someone on a show playing on the idiot box mentioned fried ice cream. That got my attention. I love fried ice cream. I haven't had it in years. Last time was when my last girlfriend and I were in a restauraunt that happened to serve it and I introduced her to it. '02 or '03 maybe?

Even though lactose and I do not get along I have a weakness for fried ice cream. The stuff really is great. If you've never had it you really should.

Damn, I'm going to have to go find some tomorrow.

Very worth trying. Great stuff. You can find it at a lot of Mexican joints and some seafood places.

Delicious. I want some right now.

This one Tex-mex joint around here (because, let's be honest, there's hardly any such thing as 'authentic' mexican food in the states) they have something they call sweet nachos - it's got fried ice cream, cinnamon-sugared flour chips, sweetened condensed milk, and whipped cream.

Scrumptious caloric overload.

Is it Mexican? I've only ever had it at Chinese restaurants. It's still great though, wherever it's from!

I have heard of it (during fair time) but never had any. So how do they fry it without melting it?

It's battered, then frozen hard, then quickly deep fried.
