As I am not home all that much paying for cable would be a major waste of money so I just use a pair of amplified rabbit ears to receive television broadcasts. It's always been a bit snowy with some interference, but no more than I watch tv it was adequate.
Yesterday I bought a DTV converter box for my living room tv. Wow, what a difference! All but one of our local stations is broadcasting in digital, and the picture quality is amazing. Channels that before were barely watchable are now crystal clear, and of course all of the sub-channels increases the available programming three-fold or more.
I am sitting here watching an ACC football game on one of the channels that was previously almost unwatchable due to interference, and the picture is as least as good as I would have on cable.
It's also much easier to adjust the rabbit ears for best picture as with the press of a button I get an on-screen signal meter and I simply adjust for peak signal. Very nice.
Now I want an HDTV for the house (have one in the truck already) LOL
