A bunch of useless crap

I unloaded a military truck at the retrofit facility in Chambersburg, PA yesterday morning. Been sitting here at the truckstop in Carlisle ever since. Just no decent paying double-drop trailer frieght moving out of here right now. Dispatch said worse case there's a load moving out of the area on Thursday going to WI.

Sitting around a truckstop is anything but exciting. Lots of idiots acting like, well, idiots on the CB radio, over priced truckstop food, and that's about it. At least I'm not out in the boonies, so I can pick up some tv stations and have wireless access, so it's not a total loss.

Yesterday I decided to carry my 10 year old Road King RK56 CB mic into the CB shop to have a new cord put on it. There's a break somewhere in the cord that causes it to cut in and out. It's been riding around in a box for a year or so now and I figured it was time to have it fixed. The RK56 is the best noise cancelling mic on the market and is what the majority of truckers use.

When he checked out the mic he told me he could replace the cord for twenty bucks or for thirty bucks I could trade mine in for a brand new one. Hell, sounded like a bargain to me so that's what I wound up doing. Now I have a shiny new RK56 with warranty for just ten bucks more than it would have cost to repair the ten year old one.

Last night I accidentally walked over to the BBQ Place for a few cold brews and a beef BBQ sandwich. The joint was pretty busy for a Tuesday night and I soon discovered why...karaoke night. Agh!

There was one driver there that had a pretty good magic trick going. He would take an object, a hat, pen, dollar bill, whatever, lay it down on the table or bar, manipulate his hands, and cause the object to move seemingly on it's own. As I had spent many years learning and doing magic tricks I knew exactly how he was doing it (I used the same gimmick myself) but I promised him that I wouldn't tell anyone as it was kinda funny watching him do it for some people. I about cracked up when I heard one guy say "Wow, I could actually feel a magnetic pull just then!" He had a pretty good rap and had the guy convinced he was moving it with his mind LOL

I showed him a couple of my own tricks which involve sleight of hand and misdirection instead of gimmicks, and we quietly talked about magic tricks out of earshot of those for whom he might be performing his trick later.

Now I am just sitting around listening to the idiots on the CB, surfing the net, and trying my best to not get too bored. If I were a really motivated individual I'd spend some time doing some housekeeping inside my truck. I suppose if I get bored enough later I probably will. It needs it.

It's quite chilly here today as well as being windy. Somehow it's hard for me to get motivated to do much of anything when it's cold. I just want to hibernate LOL

Ah well I guess I'll wander inside and refill my coffee mug. A nice hot cup of java is just the thing for a cold morning.
