I am finally on my way home. I have stops in NC, SC, GA, and FL on my way. I should be home in a couple of days.
While still in WI I decided to visit the local western shop to pick up some jeans and a couple of shirts as I was pretty low on clean clothing. I could have just gone to a laundry but I hate laundrymats.
I have shopped in this western store for several years and have gotten to know the owner a bit. He takes great pride in his personal service and was happy to assist me in finding some suitable duds. While I was looking over the shirts he mentioned that he had received a new shipment of boots and thought there might be some I like.
I wasn't looking for boots but figured it couldn't hurt to look them over. I immediately spotted a pair of black Dan Post lizard skin boots that looked really sharp. No harm in trying them on, right?
I walked around in them for a few minutes while shopping for shirts. For a brand new pair of boots they were quite comfortable. And very sharp looking. Once I picked out a couple of shirts I asked about the price of the boots. $319.
Yikes!
I carefully removed them and placed them neatly back in the box. I tried on a couple of other pairs of boots but none looked as good or were as comfortable as the lizard skins. Ah well, I wasn't looking for new boots anyway.
I looked around the store a bit more, picked out some jeans, and was ready to check out. The owner said that he could tell that I really liked those boots. He said he was going to be having a 15% off sale in a week and if I really wanted the boots he would go ahead and give me the sale price for not only the boots but for everything else as well.
I bought the boots.
Naturally, a shiny new pair of boots deserve a nice new hat so I also wound up picking out a new black Stetson to go with them.
Ah well, one does need decent footwear.
