The shop was too busy to get my truck in today so I checked into the local hotel. As per normal routine I went over to Applebee's for dinner and a few adult beverages.
As with any restaurant Applebee's has a certain amount of turn over so there are usually some new people working there whenever I stop in. Tonight was no exception. I saw several new faces, along with the expected ones who seem to always be working there.
I was particularily stricken by one new young lady. She has a classic beauty and a smile that lights up the place like you wouldn't believe. Man is she gorgeous. Too bad she's young enough, or I'm old enough, that she could be my daughter. But man, was she beautiful. Her smile was amazing.
Ah well, some young guy is a lucky dog.
I talked with her briefly, and told her to keep on smiling. Very young, and very beautiful. Damn I feel old.
I did enjoy myself there. There were some young poeple who came to sit at the bar to smoke who asked me what I was knitting, I told them I was knitting a hat to go with the sweater I had just finished and after some discussion I showed them the sweater. They seemed really impressed by it, but they called me "sir" a couple of times which really annoyed me. Damn kids.
I'll get my truck serviced tomorrow and be on my way to MS, making a little money.
I did get into a bit of an argument with "R" today. It started raining. Well, it was a real storm and all Hell broke loose. He called me up while I was sitting in the shop and asked me if I had put a tarp on the part of my load that needed one.
Now, bear in mind, this stuff had sat on the yard all weekend and had been rained on several times. Another driver was supposed to take this load on Friday but according to what I was told had come into the yard and quit. Damn truck drivers.
During our conversation (while I was trying to eat my lunch) I asked him if this was the load that sat out in the weather all weekend. He finally admitted that it was so I told him I would toss a rag over it after I finished my meal.
I did cover it up after it had been raining for an hour or so. The stuff is painted and isn't likely to be harmed by a little rain, this customer is just paranoid about things. Whatever, they pay for a tarp so I gave them one. Not my fault another driver decided to quit.
"R" and I talked later and worked everything out. Just one of those things ya know. We can get pissed and fight with each other and still be friends and share a beer or two together. Real man sort of stuff.
I'm gonna get some sleep. get the truck into the shop early tomorrow, and be on my way to MS.
Hopefully.
