I delivered in Oshkosh this morning and then made my way down to the yard. I am now waiting to get my truck into the shop for servicing and then I'll be heading for Gulfport.
I have a military truck going to gulfport, and some crane parts I'll be dropping off at two different locations along the way. It's an ok run.
We had a pretty nasty storm pass through here in the wee hours this morning and now the air is heavy and humid. It feels more like Florida than Wisonsin today. I'll be happy to get finished with the truck, get my load secured, and be on my way. I don't really mind the humid weather all that much, being a Florida boy I'm used to it. But I'd rather be rolling than sitting.
So far the new laptop is working out fine. It's hard to believe how much the prices have come down on them in the past couple of years. This one is far better than my previous one and cost less than half as much. Incredible.
I do have to say that despite my dislike for all things Micro$oft, Vista isn't the horror I thought it would be. So far everything is running quite well, the performance is very snappy, and everything I normally need to do works without any fuss. I've been putting it though it's paces and so far haven't experienced any lock-ups or crashes at all.
There are a number of features and effects that do look suspiciously like those found in Linux desktop environments, most notibly KDE. The default theme, Aero, looks almost identical to a KDE theme that has been around since before Vista. Methinks that despite Bill's hatred for the open source community he's up to his old tricks and stealing ideas wherever he can. Ah well, nothing new there. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery.
I am going to try and get a load home from MS. Hopefully they'll be able to find me something going that way. It's time to hit the house and recharge my batteries a bit.
