When I finally made it to the yard yesterday I put my truck into the shop for servicing, which didn't take very long. Once I had my wheels again I checked into the hotel for the night to get some rest after a busy week.
Once I had jumped into the shower to de-hog myself I walked over to Appleby's for dinner, a few adult beverages, some conversation, and some knitting time. The sweater is really coming along and I am almost finished with the ribbing at the bottom. Once that's done I'll just have to do the sleeves and it'll be finished.
This is the first time I've popped into this Appleby's since I started the sweater and everyone made a real fuss over it. Seems they liked it. One guy sitting at the bar asked about it and we chatted for a few minutes. He asked what I do for a living and when I told him I'm a trucker and for whom I drive he told me where he works. Seems he drives for the same company LOL we just hadn't run across each other yet.
He's only worked there for a couple of years and somehow we'd just never been at the yard at the same time until now. It happens. Some drivers I see regularly and some I rarely see if ever. Such is the nature of trucking I suppose.
It was a pleasant evening spent talking and knitting and it was very relaxing. Just what I needed after a rough week. Today I get back to the grind. Unless things have radically changed since ysterday I'll be on my way to Oshkosh shortly to pick up a military tanker truck going to Arkansas for Monday delivery. That gives me plenty of time and barring any weather, traffic, or flood related issues I should have a relatively easy weekend drive.
In the trucking biz, that can be a damn big "if" though.
