A bunch of useless crap

I'm currently sitting in Seymour, IN waiting to hear from dispatch. I pulled in here late yesterday afternoon. I picked up some electrical equipment in NC and am hauling it to a Wal Mart store currently under construction in Milwaukee (as if they need another damn Wal Mart). Since I still have a lot of open space on the trailer they're looking around to see if there's anything else I can pick up along the way to add to the revenue. Personally, I'd just as soon deliver this crap and go to the yard for another good paying outbound load.

A couple of weeks ago a movie titled Big Rig The Movie was released. It's a documentary about truckers. I had heard about it prior to the release and picked up a copy as soon as it became available. I have mixed feelings about it but over all I think they did a good job of it.

Unlike a lot of past films about truckers and trucking, this one is realistic and neither goes out of it's way to paint us in a bad light or sugar coat things. The film maker basically approached drivers in truck stops and when he found one that was willing to be interviewed he would ride along in the rig, along with his sound man, and interview the driver while rolling down the road while the rest of his crew followed in an RV.

This is not a film about trucking, but rather about truckers. Real, honest to goodness, warts and all, truckers. They rode along with and interviewed a number of drivers all over the country and the film portrays drivers as the human beings they are. Everyone has a story and this comes through in the film.

The film is being sold in Wal Marts, Barnes and Noble, and some other retail outlets as well as online at their website http://bigrigmovie.com/bigrig  and is a good film for anyone who shares the roads with the big rigs. If nothing else perhaps it helps to drive home the fact that there are real people in those rigs which I think is something a lot of people on the roads tend to forget.

The extras on the DVD are excellent. They include additional interviews and short takes not included in the film, some director/producer footage of what they went through to make the film, some tips for safely sharing the road with big rigs, and some very nice show truck footage.

If you are looking for something interesting to watch, I'd recommend this DVD to anyone and definitely suggest watcching the extras on it.

Could happen. I'm betting more on the History Channel though.

This does sound interesting! But they didn't put our favorite knitting truck driver in the movie. How did they miss  hearing about you.
