A bunch of useless crap

My mother went to the doctor today. They removed the tracheotomy tube and sutures from her neck. She looks a lot better now without that thing sticking out of her neck. She can also eat now.

The doc did give her some good news. They had removed the lymph glands from her neck and they had received the lab reports back. Zero cancer in them. That's a great thing because it means the cancer was localized and hadn't started to spread at all.

Her spirits are much better now and I think she's going to be ok.

I just spent some time on the phone with the medical supply company, and faxing documents back and forth, to get her equipment and supplies ordered.

What a pain in the posterior! Even though it was plainly noted on the order form faxed to them by the doctor, they overlooked the artificial voice unit that will allow her to speak. That just about sent me over the edge as that is the main piece of equipment being ordered for crying out loud!

After some discussion and making the guy actually read the stupid form he finally found where the thing was noted to be ordered. He does this for a living?

After some discussion we decided to order a different unit than the one specified by the doctor. They have a unit that is just as high quality and durable, but is capable of voice inflections for better expression as well as having a more natural sounding voice. They also have a special pricing on it this month and it's $100 cheaper than the more artificial sounding one.

He also said that if she doesn't like that unit she can send it back for the other one and just pay the price difference.

Her stuff should come in some time next week.

this guy sounds like he has a major problem with paying attention to the slightest detail!

you must have the patience of a saint given his incompetence!

Good going on the different unit,   Your mom is blessed to have you helping her.

Yeah I got a little frustrated, especially when it's their company form that was filled out and faxed. I had to actually tell him what section of the form to read to see what I was talking about. Jesus on a pony!

Hey MasonM,

Happy to hear the positive report.

That is really poor cust service if YOU had to tell them what section it was on the form.

Glad to hear your mom is doing better. Does this good news mean she won't have to undergo chemo therapy?  Sorry you had to put up with a bad customer service rep, but it sounds like once he got his shit together he did lead you to a better quality voice unit at a lower price even. You have to look for those silver linings in those clouds.

Great news Mason! (Except for the Medical supply crap).

I think we worry more about our mothers then they worry about themselves. After all, they raised us! Which means they can do anything!

Thanks. She'll still have to undergo the chemo. While they believe they got all of the cancer when they removed her larynx, they'll do the chemo anyway just to be sure.
