I finally delivered the two farm tractors in MI yesterday. As with the rest of this trip things didn't go smoothly. Neither tractor would start and so after spending a good deal of time trying to start them they simply dragged them off the trailer so I could be on my way.
I had called in and let dispatch know that there were several minor things on the truck that needed to be repaired, basically a laundry list of items, and so after delivery I was told to just start making my way here so that I can be at the shop first thing this morning.
I am here but the shop is very busy and doesn't know if they'll be able to get to it today or not. Figures. But I did my bit and made it here so if it doesn't get repaired today nobody can blame me for it.
I spent last night at the truckstop down the road from here. There's a nice restaurant within walking distance that has a pub inside. I've come to know the owner and he usually makes a point of serving me personally whenever I come in there. We shot the shit until closing time (9:00). All of the customers had cleared out at the point and I spent an additional hour drinking and shooting the shit with the owner and employees before finally making my way back to my truck for some sleep. He offered me a ride back to my truck as it's on his way home and his wife wasn't with him (small pickup only room for two) but I declined in favor of a refreshing if cold walk before bed.
Now I'm just hanging around waiting to see what's going to happen. I'll use some of the time to do my paperwork so I can get paid next week and the rest I'll use to knit for a while. I decided to make a sweater vest out of the pound of alpaca yarn I picked up while waiting for my truck to be fixed down in FL. I'd like to make a full sweater out of it but I'd probably need an additional half pound of the stuff. There should be just enough for a nice vest.
