A bunch of useless crap
new takes getting used to
Published on February 19, 2008 By MasonM In Blogging

Judging from the articles popping up on JU it seems there are some mixed reactions to the new JU format. I suppose that's to be expected whenever any major changes take place. As  with anything new there will be a learning curve and a bit of an adjustment period before most people get comfortable with the new format. And of course there will be some bugs to be worked out, which is also to be expected whenever one deploys thousands of lines of code.

So far I have found one or two  minor things that annoy me a little, like the fact that the forums system no longer remembers the last comments I read in a thread and I have to scroll through to find where I left off to see any new comments. Hopefully that one will be fixed at some point as it was handy to revisit a thread and have it automatically take me to  the last comment I previously read.

All in all though I have to say that the new format is quite nice and I think that once everyone adjusts to it and learns their way around it they will find it far better than the previous incarnation. Change can be upsetting to many people, but I think in the end this is aa  change for the better.

I just have to find the newest list.  And some time to play with the new format.

Sure, like anything new it'll take some time to get used to it.

I hate it, but like you said, the new takes getting used to. Heh, we have a sayin' at work -and I'm sure you've probably heard it- that goes you got the same pants to get GLAD in that ya got MAD in.

And I suppose that sayin' applies to me too...

I agree with you, change means ajustment. I like the new setup, and being so challenged tech wishe, ajustment takes me a bit longer. I do like it though, especially the way the top looks, with a dashboard and all.

I guess aging, for me, has meant that I ajust slower, yet more comfortably. I used to hate change, loved my ruts, not anymore.

Change is sometimes good sometimes bad. We adjust and get on with it.

I like the neatness of it, but for some reason, it takes forever for my computer to load a page. I'm still a bit confused at navigation, but I like it more, the longer I play around.

That's odd as the new site seems to load faster for me.
