A bunch of useless crap

I was supposed to deliver down near Miami this afternoon but had a change of plans. I spoke with the owner of the company that is to receive the deliver, a couple of trash compactors, and he said he wouldn't be able to unload them at the job site by the time I made it down there this afternoon as his people usually knock off early on Friday. That was just fine by me and I set things up to deliver around noon on Monday and put it in the wind for home.

After being broke down in Oklahoma City for a week and then off sick with the flu for a week I really wasn't planning on coming home at all this month as I need to keep rolling to make some cash. Things just kind of worked out that way so I am now sitting at home having a cold one. It's only for the weekend so it won't really hurt me financially all that much so I may as well go with the flow and enjoy a couple of days at home.

My step-father Frank painted the trim on my place while I was gone (the rest is vinyl siding). That was a nice surprise and the place looks pretty damn good. That was quite nice of him. I told him I had planned on doing it myself this Spring but he said that after being on the road for several weeks I didn't need to be doing such work on my home time. Damn nice of him.

This extra couple of days off will help me finish getting over that damn flu. I still have a pretty nasty cough and feel kind of rough in general. Now that I am over the worst of it my back has decided to give me problems, probably just strained from all the violent coughing. Resting over the weekend will help make that feel better.

When I come home the first thing I do is to turn on the water and power that has been shut off while I've been on the road. It's been on a while now so I think I should have enough hot water for a nice long shower. I'm off to get wet.

So glad you have a chance to be at home right now! That was "damn nice" of your Step father! ! No, that was really, really generous of him to do that for you! Enjoy your weekend, drink lots of fluids and get lots of rest!

This may be me reading too much into your posts, but it seems you think highly of Frank.  Some would say "my mother's husband" especially since you are now past 40.  But you called him your step father, so that shows that while he will never be your father, he is as close as he can get.

Sounds like he does real well by you.

Well, he's a nice guy and all that, but I referred to him as my step-father because that's technically what he is. We're really not close at all but he's an ok guy.
