A bunch of useless crap

After delivering at the Oklahoma City airport on Monday I took my truck to an engine shop for repairs. As I suspected the head was bad...again. A nearby hotel has a shuttle service so I called them to pick me up and I checked in here.

As there is a bar next door called Sherlock's and I spent a little time in the evenings over there enjoying a few cold ones. I think I blew their minds a bit when I first went in there. Big bearded guy in a cowboy hat sitting at the bar knitting LOL. I've been sitting here all week and it's now to the point where the bar manager, bartenders, and even a few of the regulars know my name when I walk in and I know more about their personal lives than I really care to.

I was finally able to pick up my truck from the shop late this afternoon. Somehow in the midst of packing up for my hotel stay I managed to leave behind the power cord for my laptop and haven't been able to get online. Ah well, what can ya do?

I'm typing this as I await my dinner delivery. I decided on General Tso's chicken for this evening's repast. Once I eat I'll probably wander over to Sherlock's for a couple of cold ones before turning in for the night.

With any luck dispatch will be able to find me a load out of here tomorrow. I've pretty much lost a week's pay here and would like to make a couple of bucks at least.

Honestly I don't know how you keep your sanity staying in Oklahoma...the most exciting thing there are those damned tornadoes.

The Achilees heel of portables - the damn power adapter!  I have a real nice Dell 840 sitting in a cabinet.  It has been there  a year now.  The problem?  no power adapter (and a company that cant seem to order anything except the big shots caviar and champagne).

Yeah, gotta have the juice. I could have used it off battery power for a little while but the battery has gone South on me and I haven't got around to ordering a new one yet. Technology is great...when it works.

Ah yes, the endless layovers...makes me miss trucking, NOT.

At least your company reimburses for motels. As owner-operators, we could rarely justify that expense so we stayed in the truck almost exclusively (unless it was being worked on at the moment.) A night in a motel was a luxury, a week would have seemed like vacation! Except that if that week's layover was due to a breakdown, that meant a week in a motel without any transportation...oi, I miss trucking...NOT.

Hope ya get a long, goodpaying load for the weekend, Mason.

Yeah breakdowns suck moose tit. Thanks.
