While in Applebee's this weekend one of the servers, the one who calls me Sam because she thinks I sound like Sam Elliott, asked me when I was going to make her a hat. She told me her favorite colors are turquoise and yellow. I am currently knitting a turquoise hat with a bit of yellow trim for her. For this one I decided to experiment with moss stitch and am pretty happy with the way it's looking. The moss stitch makes a very interesting texture which I think will make for a very nice looking hat.
I have a bit of knitting time tonight as someone in the office screwed up. The armor plated truck is heavy so I needed overweight permits in order to haul it. Somehow they got the dates wrong on the OK permit and it expired yesterday. I am now sitting in Oklahoma City until tomorrow morning. The permit office was closed today due to the holiday.
I could have tried to just run around the weigh station but I really don't like doing that. If an accident or something happened they'd be hanging my ass out to dry and I'm just not willing to risk that. So I'll just hang out here until they can get me a new permit tomorrow. Such is trucking ya know.
I had hoped this truckstop would have a medical clinic. I could have used a bit of the down time to get that pesky DOT physical out of the way for another two years. No such luck.
Oh well, I'll surf the net a bit, knit a bit, and eventually kick back in the sleeper and fall asleep watching a DVD. That reminds me, this truckstop is getting sneaky about their merchandising. I was looking over the DVDs on display and could have sworn I smelled popcorn. Another driver walked over and mentioned the popcorn smell as well so I knew it wasn't my imagination.
We walked away from the display and could no longer smell it. We walked back to the DVD display and sure enough could smell popcorn. Very sneaky. People often associate popcorn and movies. Subliminal advertising perhaps?
That reminds me, I need a snack before I put in a movie.
