I wandered over to Applebee's for a few brews and dinner. Naturally I took my knitting pack with me. I trudged through the several inches of crappy, cold, bullshit snow and had a few beers and some dinner.
I hadn't been there more than 10 minutes before a couple of women expressed an interest in my knitting and I was engaged in some lengthy conversation. It carried on over to a couple of guys who chimed in with their own interest and questions, as well as a couple of other people who were interested.
Good grief, It still amazes me how people are so bedazzled by something as simple as a bit of knitting. it's just a couple of sticks and some string.
I will admit to being a bit flattered. I had several knitters ask me to publish the pattern for the beanie I knit last week. It was just a prototype I whipped up to make sure the stitches I had in mind would produce the results I wanted. A lot of folks seemed to like it and wanted to knit the same thing.
I wrote up what I had done in pattern form and published it. It''s my first published pattern. Being a novice knitter it's kind of cool to have a pattern out there with my name on it. I am no artist by any stretch of the definition of the word, but that does help satisfy that stifled bit of artistic part of my personality.
In the end I'm just a dumb old truck driver who spends his down time playing around with a couple of sticks and some string.
And drinking beer.
