A bunch of useless crap

One of the knitting forums I frequent, and where I've been a member for a year, has a lot of people joining on a daily basis. It's quite popular because it's a very friendly community. Usually.

Like any other online community you get your share of asshats there. I had to deal with one of those tonight. On one thread a person had posted a full cut and paste of something they had posted in their own thread, basically some sort of religious charity related stuff. I pointed out how rude it was to do so, especially since they had posted the exact same thing in their own thread (to which nobody responded).

This spawned an immature tirade on that thread as well a numerous annoying little PMs. I warned this person that not only had I been a member of this forum for far longer than she, but that I had numerous friends there including most of the moderators. My warning went unheeded and she even went as far as to go into the site's chat room and bad mouth me there. Big mistake as most of the people there like and respect me. I was immediately PM'ed about that behavior as well.

I was in the process of discussing the problem with a moderator when I started receiving the PMs about the chat room behavior. I passed along the info to that moderator. Somehow I suspect that person will no longer be a member of that online community. I went out of my way to try and warn this person that her behavior was not acceptable in that community, and even warned her that everything she was sending me was documented on the server, but to no avail.

Some people are just too damn stupid to be allowed to interact with others.

I've seen more than a few idiots on Internet Forums in the past.  They can be amusing for as long as they can stick around before they get themselves booted permanently.  At least if you can be patient enough to wait for the moderators to put the hammer down on 'em.

Like I said, it's a very friendly community. For that reason I refuse to get into any flame wars with the random dummy who signs up. The mods and all of the long time people there know me and like me so I can count on the mods to deal with the asshat here and there.

It's just a stupid kid who hasn't yet learned how to deal with actual grown ups yet.

My wife is a member of a cloth diapering forum, a breastfeeding forum, midwifery forum, and a 'Due in November' board that is now a 'Baby born in November' board.

Knitting? Hah.
