A bunch of useless crap

I had a pretty long day today. I started out this morning in NE (edited...thanks LW) OH, right on the PA line and, after swinging by the yard to pick up an additional piece to deliver over in MN, am now parked for the night in western WI. I only covered about 650 miles today as I was held up in several back ups the causes for which ranged from a big rig on fire on the shoulder of the highway to a flatbed that dumped his load taking a ramp too fast to a couple of run of the mill car crashes. And of course the usual road construction.

I stayed after it pretty much non-stop all day. The load I picked up is a pair of very large power substation circuit breakers, and the power company over in MN is needing them as soon as possible so I told the guy I would do my best to get there around noon tomorrow. At this point I hammered it hard enough today that I should get there just about that time if I run the remaining 300 miles non-stop tomorrow morning.

I just treated myself to a steak dinner after washing some of the road off myself, and am now going to hit the proverbial sack for a few hours of much needed slumber. It's pretty chilly here tonight. Not so cold as to be a danger, but cool enough for good sleeping.

Tomorrow morning I'll fill my tanks and my coffee cup and start hammering it again.

Hope you get to sleep in a little before getting up for that coffee!

How strange to know that you're in my area and I probably wouldn't get a chance to meet you and get to talk with the man behind the screen!

Sounds like the roads were a disaster!

Our little town was busier than usual today,  yet nothing at all like that!

You have yourself a nice sleep M! You have the patience of a saint being on the road as often as you have to be! It's cooled down here and raining a bit. Stay warm!

Thanks, but no sleeping in for me. Have to get the load delivered.

The roads were ok for the most part, just one of those days when things go a bit sideways.

I hate to tell ya this, Mason, but it you were on the PA line, you were in extreme North EAST Ohio, close enough to stop by and have a cuppa joe with my folks, who live in Madison, right off of I-90.

Maybe you've driven a little further than you thought, hehe, which would explain why you're so pooped.

Told ya I was beat.

Guess your load is done, and now perhaps you can rest this weekend.

Yeah I got my load off and am in western WI. Not much in the way of rest yet as I have to get back to the yard as early as possible in the morning so the shop can fix my generator which went south on my birthday.

I did stop and have a few beers. The mechanic will be a little pissed (or a lot pissed, whatever) because I won't be there first thing in the morning. He doesn't usually work on Saturdays but the boss made sure he would be there to fix the problem for me before I head back out. He'll be getting paid overtime so he can wait.

I would normally be heading home about now but as the holiday season is coming up I plan to just stay out until Thanksgiving. No point in going home now and then turning around and heading home again in a week or so. Money-wise it makes more sense to just stay out an extra three weeks and go home then.

The mechanic has to realize he is not a profit center, and that unless those who are in the profit center make money, he has no job.

And that is why I am typing this at 4am on a Sunday morning from my office as well.
