A bunch of useless crap

Geez, I could have easily gone postal the past couple of days. I decided to switch from XM to Sirius a couple of days ago so I bought a Sirius radio receiver. I have yet to actually activate the damn service.

I've stopped at no less than five different places that sell Sirius radios so that I could buy an activation card in order to start the service. Two of the five don't sell the cards for some damn reason, one sold them but the idiot clerk didn't know how to activate the damn thing, and two sold them but were sold out of them.

How the hell is it that a company that sells the damn radios doesn't sell the cards needed to activate the damn things? Needless to say I have been seriously pissed off the past couple of days. The last place, which is where I am now parked, was one of the ones who don't even carry the damn cards even though it was their company that sold me the damn radio in the first place.

It's no wonder people go postal and shoot up a bunch of people. The whole damn system is simply insane. I was ready to choke the living shit out of someone before I decided to just walk across the street and have a few beers. Fuck these people, tomorrow morning I'll return the damn thing and reactivate my XM.

Maybe I'll send an email laced with all sorts of obscene language to Sirius afterwards.

Getting frustrated isn't unreasonable.  Going postal, unreasonable.  Deep calming breaths.  Deep calming breaths.

Having had both services, I really don't notice a lot of difference between them except for exclusive sports programming that one may have that the other doesn't.  And of course Howard Stern.

Currently I'm with Sirius and they are ok, though I think I actually favor at least one of the music channels on XM more than I do Sirius.  Make that two now that I think about it.  (XM's Flight 26 is favorable to me over the Pulse on Sirius, and I liked the XM Short Cuts on Highway 16 each week).

Sirius irritated me though by not coming through -- as they promised -- on waiving the re-activation fee when I came back after a year away.  They also bill quarterly at a minimum and I'd prefer monthly even though quarterly should offer a discount.

XM had offered me about 4 months free time when I called to drop them and I just didn't have it in me to keep them as I can XM channels for free on DirecTV and/or via AOL instant messenger (for the channels I want to hear).  Not so with Sirius where I'd have to pay for their content one way or the other.

I would really love to have my old xm2Go radio work with Sirius though.  Much stronger FM broadcast ability on it, and totally portable.  The Sirius Sportster Reply is ok at best.  The FM broadcaster on it sucks rocks and is so totally weak (thanks for nothing FCC!) that it may as well not even be there.  I've also had issues with both signals getting blocked by trees on some of the roads I drive on (rural areas).  No problems on the highway but for one spot under a big over-pass.

Anyway, unless you were looking for Stern, or NASCAR, personally I'd say stick with XM.  Less hassle (though a local Radio Shack should have the cards for you, and Wal-Mart might as well).

Actually I wanted to make the switch due to Sirius carrying NFL, I couldn't care less about NASCAR or Stern.

I tried a Wal Mart last night but they were out of the cards too.

Deep calming breaths. Deep calming breaths.

As you strangle the clerk...

The deep calming breaths are for the clerk: lay back and let the darkness come.

That's his final rendering of a valuable customer service experience. And the only way you'll walk away satisfied.

Were the beers for calming you down or for preparation for the upcoming choke hold you were about to unleash? I know very few people who do it for the former.

Deep calming breaths. Deep calming breaths.

You mean more beer?

As you strangle the clerk...

Or more beer... (continue above).

Might want to coach MM on what to do when mad, like having a beer. Then again he might be able to coach you on what to do, like choking him.

I'd much rather go with MM's actions, but that's just me. especially since I don't drink beer.

Yes, purple does have a calming effect.

For calming down. Nothing like a few cold ones to take off the edge.

I've always thought so too.

I did finally find someone this morning who knew what they were doing and actually had the stupid cards in stock. It took all of about five minutes to get the service set up.

I'm considering some Sat radio as well. Would like a portable one, walkman style, that can attach to other devices as well. I think there is an MP3 one as well.
