A bunch of useless crap

I took my GPS with me when I rode the bent to Publix a little while ago. I decided to do a bit of geocaching along the way. I got lucky and found two this time out.

The first one was hanging below a wooden bridge on a bit of fishing line. It took me a few minutes to find it but as the name of the cache was "Troll" I assumed it would have to be under the bridge. It only contained a log which i signed to document the find.

The second one was called "My House" and once I followed the GPS to get close to it I saw a Mi Casa restaurant and the name made sense. I found it hiding underneath a large power panel behind the restaurant. I kind of had to hang around a bit and wait for a guy scrubbing out a large pot with the water hose to finish and go back inside before I could do the search. Even then I nearly missed it. On the website it showed that a few people had searched for it and not found it and it had been placed in a "muggled" (missing/stolen) status. I logged it so the owner would know it had been found intact.

It contained a log and a used yellow guitar pick which wasn't worth anything but was just to take as a souvenir. I left the pick as I wasn't carrying anything to replace it and the rule is if you take something you must leave something.

It was a lot of fun hunting for them, especially finding one that had been reported as "muggled".

Great finds! You know I did a search in my area after reading your other article, just out of curiosity and there are a lot of caches out there! I had no idea. But the rule as you say is when you take something you have to leave something behind and documenting your find is important. And yeah, no one can see you do the search. Why is that so important by the way?

Because if the muggles see it they're likely to vandalize or steal the cache. Besides, being stealthy is half the fun.

Besides, being stealthy is half the fun.

That seems to be the important part.
